Du har ett schemalagt möte med vår Guide på DMZ Restaurant & Bar för en kort orientering om turen och för att få insikter i den strategiska betydelsen av Hue stad under Vietnamkriget. Resan tar dig från södra sidan till norra sidan av Hue, korsar den ikoniska Truong Tien-bron och Parfymfloden. Vi börjar med en promenad längs Hues huvudboulevard och utforskar historiska platser kopplade till händelser som Franska revolutionen, Religiös protest och Tet Offensiv. Sedan tar vi dig till Dong Ba Market, en av Hues äldsta och livligaste marknader, som erbjuder en unik kulturell upplevelse. Missa inte att prova fingerfrukt, söt soppa från oss! Den religiösa protesten mot Ngo Dinh Diem-regimen
Under ditt besök kommer du att lära dig om Anti-Skatterörelsen 1908, när lokala jordbrukare och lärda reste sig mot tunga koloniala skatter och hård politik. Minnesrelik av farbror Hos deltagande i anti-skatterörelsen vid Centrala ambassaden, Hue I april 1908 var det en protest som krävde skattesänkning av folket i Thua Thien Hue. Protesten ägde rum från 9 april 1908 och kulminerade den 11 april 1908 när bönder från 6 distrikt samlades för att omringa Nunciature Palace för att ställa krav. President Ho Chi Minh var fortfarande student vid den tiden, tillsammans med ett antal andra Quoc Hoc-studenter som också gick med i anti-skatteprotestgruppen; "Farbror Ho" använde sina kunskaper i franska för att hjälpa människor som tolk. Nunciaturepalatset existerar inte längre idag, det förstördes helt 1945. För att minnas denna plats, som bevittnade president Ho Chi Minhs första patriotiska handlingar, uppförde Ho Chi Minh Thua Thien Hue-museet Thien Hue en symbol för Nguyen Tat Thanh ( President Ho Chi Minh) deltog i anti-skatterörelsen 1908 för att fira minnet.

På Trường Tiền Bridge får du lära dig hur denna ikoniska symbol för Huế blev ett huvudmål under Vietnamkriget. Bron bombades och förstördes flera gånger, vilket stängde av åtkomsten över Parfymfloden och markerade några av de hårdaste striderna i staden. Idag, när du går över den, står bron inte bara som en viktig länk för staden utan också som en påminnelse om Huếs motståndskraft och återhämtning efter kriget
9 kanoner som Hue-hantverkare kastade under Gia Longs andra år (1803). Nio kanoner anses vara ett av de mest värdefulla bronskonstverken. De gamla nio kanonerna placerades vid foten av det kejserliga citadellet, vid ingången till Ngo Mon-porten – den kejserliga staden Hue. Under kung Khai Dinhs regeringstid flyttades de till sin nuvarande position.
Ett arkitektoniskt monument från Nguyen-dynastin som ligger mitt på södra sidan av Hue-citadellet inom fästningen Nam Chanh som också är platsen för att hänga flaggan för det kungliga hovet.

Bem was a great travel guide on our trip to Hue! She did a great job sharing her knowledge of Vietnam's history, brought us to the local market, and we ended the trip at a very good local restaurant. She made sure to accommodate our friend who is a vegetarian. Make sure to order multiple beers!

Fascinating walk with Bem who explained much of Hue’s history from the VN perspective. There is much to learn. Would have liked more info about the Battle for Hue in ‘68. That aside it’s different to the usual tours of Imperial Hue, and provides much more context.

This tour is designed to give a broad “backbone” view of Huế’s history, from around 1310 to the present day. Within 2.5 hours, we aim to provide an overall understanding of how the city has evolved through different periods — including the French and American wars, — while also introducing local culture, the market, and everyday life. Because of the limited time, it isn’t possible to go into deep detail about every single historical event. Regarding the Battle of Huế in 1968: if you are particularly interested in this topic, we would highly recommend our Huế Imperial City Walking Tour. In that tour, we go inside the Citadel and explore in much more detail the areas that were heavily affected by the fighting during the Tết Offensive.
