We engaged an English speaking guide Karla for the visit and she was very professional and knowledgeable. We were truly impressed by the artifacts and well preserved history dating back to 3000 BC. Peru is the cradle of ancient civilizations that flourished thousands of years ago. Visit to Larco museum was an extremely humbling and educational experience
Museum experience was great.
If you are interested in pre-Columbia civilization, this is a must see. The artifacts are amazing. I recommend the audio tour. We learned so much from it and then went back to engage in parts that we wanted to get to know in depth.

One of the most interesting museums in Lima. I was struck by the layout of the pieces in the room. The elegance of the tones and the dramatic lighting that valued the beauty of each object. Explanations in multiple languages give you additional information. We were in a bit of a hurry but I would have stayed for hours and hours. The exterior is superb. They have a luxury restaurant set with exquisite taste.

I have visited many museums around the world and I can assure you in my modest opinion that this is one of the most beautiful museums I have ever known. The building is atop a ceremonial mountain and is a restored palace of a nobleman and is currently a private foundation whose owner is named Larco. It is a colonial house absolutely surrounded by greenery. All in an extraordinary state of preservation with Bugambillas plants of every color imaginable in full bloom for having gone in the Peruvian summer. The interior has adequate explanations in all expected languages. The lighting is dramatic and the objects are organized from the oldest pre-Columbian objects that have been found in different regions and areas throughout Peru. It is a delicious collection that encompasses ceramics, jewelry, metal, funeral rites and a little textile as well. The visit is absolutely mandatory. I don't think you can leave Lima without having known this extraordinary museum. I want to recommend it very vividly.
