Detta är inte bara en matresa — det är en lokal resa genom hjärtat (och magen!) av Hoi An. Det som gör min upplevelse annorlunda är den genuina kopplingen till den lokala kulturen, människorna och smakerna. Jag guidar dig inte bara till att smaka fantastiska rätter, utan delar också med mig av historierna bakom varje tugga – från hemliga familjerecept till historien gömd i en skål med nudlar. Vi besöker inte bara populära turistattraktioner – vi går på bakgatorna, äter på autentiska familjeägda matställen och njuter av måltider precis som lokalbefolkningen gör: sitter på små pallar, skrattar och delar berättelser. Höjdpunkterna inkluderar: • Besöka en Bánh Mì butik en gång hyllad av Anthony Bourdain • Provsmakning Cao Lầu, en nudelrätt som bara kan göras i Hoi An • Hands-on vårrulle rullande och verklig insikt i vietnamesiska mattraditioner • Avsluta turen på ett lugnt café med vietnamesiskt kaffe, juice eller smoothies. Vid vårt första stopp kliver du in i ett livligt lokalt matställe undangömt nära flodkanten, där ljudet av fräsande smet och rökigt grillat fläsk fyller luften. Du kommer att se lokala kockar förbereda bánh xèo (vietnamesiska salta pannkakor) precis framför dig – gyllene och krispiga, fyllda med räkor, fläsk och böngroddar. Du kommer också att få smaka saftiga grillade fläskspett (thịt nướng) färska från grillen, och linda din egen gỏi cuốn (färska vårrullar) med rispapper, örter och grönsaker. Oroa dig inte – jag guidar dig steg för steg! Det är en rolig, praktisk matupplevelse där du äter som en lokalbo och lär dig hur dessa rätter återspeglar Vietnams balans av konsistens, smak och fräschör.
Vid detta stopp besöker du en av Hoi Ans mest kända bánh mì-butiker – en plats som har fått internationell uppmärksamhet. Faktum är att världsberömda kocken Anthony Bourdain besökte just denna butik och kallade bánh mì här ett måste! När vi anländer kommer du att se baguetter rostas till gyllene perfektion, doften av färska örter och grillat kött fylla luften. Du får välja din egen fyllning – oavsett om det är fläsk, kyckling, ägg eller till och med vegetariskt – och se säljaren skickligt montera din smörgås med hemlagad pastej, inlagda grönsaker, chili, koriander och såser. Vi njuter av vår bánh mì precis som lokalbefolkningen gör – på en liten pall vid trottoaren – medan jag delar med mig av roliga historier om vietnamesisk street food-kultur och hur denna enkla smörgås blev en världsberömd maträtt.
Därefter beger vi oss till en mysig lokal restaurang som är känd för att servera en av Hoi Ans mest älskade rätter – Cơm Gà, eller kycklingris. Här njuter du av mör strimlad kyckling serverad över väldoftande ris som tillagats i kycklingbuljong och gurkmeja. Den levereras med en blandning av färska örter, inlagd grön papaya och en lätt doppsås som för samman alla smaker. Varje tugga är smakrik, lätt och uppfriskande – den perfekta balansen mellan konsistens och smak. När du njuter av din tallrik ska jag förklara historien bakom denna maträtt, hur den skiljer sig från kycklingris i andra delar av Asien och varför den är en sådan lokal favorit här i Hoi An.
Nu är det dags att upptäcka en av Hoi Ans mest unika och traditionella rätter – Cao Lầu, en nudelrätt som du bara kan hitta i denna region. Vi besöker en liten, familjeägd nudelbutik undangömd från turistmassorna. Här provar du Cao Lầu – gjord på tuggiga nudlar, skivor grillat fläsk, färska örter, knapriga riskex och en liten mängd buljong. Nudlarna är speciella eftersom de är blötlagda i vatten från gamla Ba Le-brunnen och lut från träaska, vilket ger dem en distinkt konsistens och smak. Medan du äter delar jag med mig av den fascinerande historien om hur denna maträtt återspeglar den kulturella blandningen av Hoi An – kinesiska, japanska och vietnamesiska influenser i en skål. Frivillig: Beroende på dina önskemål kan du också prova en annan regional nudelrätt som Mì Quảng eller Bún Thịt Nướng.
Som avslutning på vårt foodieäventyr kopplar vi av på ett charmigt lokalt café där du kan välja mellan en mängd olika uppfriskande drycker. Oavsett om du är sugen på djärvt vietnamesiskt kaffe (varmt eller iskaffe), en färsk fruktjuice eller en tropisk smoothie finns det något för alla. David was an amazing guide. So good we booked him twice! First a food tour through Da Nang for a group of 17 and a second food tour through Hoi An. The food was all incredible and seeing different areas of both cities, but David’s knowledge and bubbly personality we enjoyed the most. Definitely recommend David and his tours.

I had a really great time on this food tour with David! It was just the two of us so he fit the tour to my dietary preferences. He is a local so I got to learn about Hoi An and all of the culinary specialties! We had the Vietnamese pancake, noodles, banh mi and sweet soup! The food was delicious and there is plenty of it! Today I did the food walking tour with David. We ate at places where the locals eat which was so nice and the food was very delicious! David is an very nice and social guy. He speaks English very well and he knows al lot about the history of Hoi An and the local food. I would recommend him. David is the best!

This was one of my favorite experiences in Hoi An. David was a fantastic guide—friendly, informative, and clearly knows local food especially in Hoi An, his hometown. The highlight for me was the best bánh mì I’ve ever had and the flavorful cao lầu noodles you can only find in Hoi An. The whole tour felt personal and authentic. Highly recommend!
