We went to the Second Breakfast tour and were the first group of the day. It was wonderful to see everything with a relatively small group before the crowds arrived. Our guide James was very engaging and fun. Then we ended with a wonderful family style meal that exceeded our expectations!
Fun experience for me (read the books eons ago) and for my aunt (clueless about it all). She went along because I wanted to go, and we both had a great time. Danni lead our group and was entertaining and informative.
A thoroughly enjoyable tour, well organised and with great guides. Bagshot Row a particular highlight.
Visiting the Hobbiton Movie Set was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to New Zealand. As fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, it was truly exciting to walk through the beautiful Shire, see the Hobbit holes up close, and visit iconic locations that appeared in the films. The entire movie set was incredibly well maintained, and the surrounding scenery was even more beautiful than we expected. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared many interesting stories about the filming process, the set design, and behind-the-scenes details. The tour was well organized, and enjoying a drink at the Green Dragon Inn was a wonderful way to complete the experience. One area that could be improved is the selection in the souvenir shop. Many of the products seemed to be designed mainly for serious fans or collectors, so some items felt a little too niche or difficult for general visitors to purchase as casual souvenirs. It would be great to see a wider selection of small figurines, plush toys, miniature decorations, keychains, and other charming, affordable items that still reflect the unique atmosphere of the films. Overall, Hobbiton Movie Set is a must-visit destination in New Zealand. It offers an immersive and unforgettable experience not only for devoted fans, but also for anyone who enjoys beautiful landscapes, detailed craftsmanship, and the magical world of Middle-earth.
The Hobbiton Tor experience was very enjoyable and interesting particularly with regards to the remote location and the incredible detail put into the creation of the internal fit out of the Bagshaw Row Hobbit homes
Absolutely delightful journey through Hobbiton. Walking tour was perfectly paced for photo ops and sprinkled with interesting movie-making facts.
More immersive than Disneyland! We loved it so much we came back 3 times on this trip! Only slight bummer was the gift shop, the items from WETA and other companies were amazing, but the movie set items itself were a bit of a let down. Other than that, the cafe food was great, the guides were knowledgable and obviously huge fans as well, would highly reccomend!
Just a wholly fabulous day with great for guides and a second breakfast experience that was all above our expectations!! 10/10
The tour was awesome ! The tour guide; the setting, the info and the Hobbit house at the end- all details seemed to be included and I don't even know the film!! My American friends thought it was quintessential NZ with rolling hills and water! There were lots of tours happening but they were well spaced out and we never felt rushed :)
Whole tour was very well set out, lots on information and tour guide John was lovely. The whole place was more than we expected and would highly recommend to friends and family to do it.
