Great time with Raymond, an absolute beast of a guide. He was super nice and very diplomatic when negotiating with the waitomo cave staff. Hobbits and glow worms are a natural pairing.
Everything about today was simply fantastic. Our tour guide, Raymond, was warm, engaging, and shared incredible knowledge along with some great insider takes that made the Hobbiton experience even more memorable. Hobbiton completely exceeded our expectations — the attention to detail throughout the village was amazing, and our LOTR guide kept the tour fun while making sure everyone had plenty of opportunities to take in the sights. Waitomo Cave was absolutely stunning, and seeing the glowworms was such a unique and unforgettable experience. Highly recommend this tour!

Incredible experience, beautiful views that the entire family enjoyed. We have kids aged from 10-15 and all had a great time. The guide, Adil, was very informative throughout the drive and provided the history of New Zealand and made the trip especially memorable.
Fun day seeing Hobbiton and the Glow Worm Caves
The entire experience of our tour was excellent. Jon was our guide and he was friendly, fun, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. The ride down was comfortable with rest breaks built in and complimentary water and snacks. The tours were organized, with clear directions on time and locations to meet. We didn’t have to lift a finger, everything was handled for us and we were able to enjoy the beauty of Hobbiton and the Glowworm caves without any trouble. We only had two days in New Zealand and I’m very glad we did this tour. It was a chance to see the sights, the country, and some small towns along the way. I highly recommend for anyone visiting and interested in seeing more of New Zealand outside of Auckland! Be sure to ask for Jon!
We had an exceptional experience with our tour guide, Adil. From the very beginning, he stood out for his professionalism and warm approach. Despite us running a few minutes late, he patiently waited at the pick-up point, which immediately set a positive tone for the day. Adil’s knowledge of Auckland and the surrounding regions is truly impressive. As both the driver and guide of the mini bus, he managed everything seamlessly while keeping us engaged throughout the journey. He shared insightful details about every phase of the trip, making even the drive informative and enjoyable. What really made the experience special was how he brought each destination to life. His explanations and stories about Hobbiton and the Waitomo Caves added depth and context that we would have otherwise missed. He ensured we understood the history, significance, and unique features of each attraction, making the visit far more memorable. On top of that, his communication skills were excellent—clear, friendly, and engaging at all times. He made sure everyone felt comfortable, informed, and included. Overall, Adil went above and beyond to deliver a fantastic experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a knowledgeable, reliable, and genuinely caring tour guide.
This was my second time doing this exact tour - two years apart. It’s a very long day with lots of driving (12 hour day) but it’s SO WORTH IT. Hobbiton is AMAZING and so was the Waitomo Cave experience. Adil was our driver and we were all so happy that he gave us such a wonderful commentary along the way about New Zealand. He was super knowledgeable about all things New Zealand and was always able to point things of interest out to us along the way. We ALL appreciated that! He even squeezed in a little “surprise” stop along the way at the end of our day that was a special memory we will never forget. 😊
