När Japan anslöt sig till Unescos världsarvskonvention 1992 började människor inklusive bombade överlevande att höja sin röst för att göra A-bombdomen till ett världsarv. En nationell kampanj för att samla in underskrifter som genomfördes av medborgarna i Hiroshima var en framgång, och den utsågs till en nationell historisk plats i juni 1995 och registrerades på listan över världsarv 1996 som en symbol som uppmanade till avskaffande av kärnvapen och för världsfred.
Den 6 augusti 1949, med antagandet av Hiroshima Peace Memorial City Construction Law, beslutades att hela Nakajima-distriktet skulle ägnas åt "fredsminnesanläggningar", och det var början på vad som nu är Peace Memorial Park. Parken omfattar cirka 122 100 kvadratmeter. Den designades av Kenzo Tange, professor vid Tokyo University, och tre andra, vars förslag valdes ut genom en designtävling som drog in 145 förslag. I den södra kanten av parken finns en rad med tre byggnader: den östra byggnaden, huvudbyggnaden av Peace Memorial Museum, och det internationella konferenscentret Hiroshima.

The tour was in no way intended to take us to The Myajima island we were on the Cruise that departed at 4:30pm. She said that she was not intended to return on time. We should have been directed to another tour. Our hearts are broken! Very disappointed!

However, as noted in our itinerary, this standard tour is scheduled to conclude around 5:30 PM at Hiroshima Station. When you made your booking, you noted in the special requirements that you needed to return by 4:00 PM. Recognizing this time conflict, we sent you a message through the Viator system prior to the tour. We explicitly informed you that to meet your 4:00 PM deadline, you would need to leave the tour early after lunch and would unfortunately miss Miyajima. In that same message, we also directed you to our alternative tour specifically designed for cruise passengers. Since we did not receive a reply or a cancellation request from you, we proceeded with your booking as scheduled. We made every effort to warn you about the schedule and provide the appropriate alternative in advance. Thank you for your understanding.
Overall great experience. Koji was a very knowledgeable tour guide. More time in the peace museum would have been nice but tour covered all the sites and was efficiently managed.

Good experience overall. The length of visit was also good since it took most of the day but we still had time for some other things. Very punctual and easy to follow. Crowd size wasn’t too big; less than around 20 people but not uncomfortably small or one on one. Tour guide explained history of Hiroshima well and took us to all the main spots while giving us some free time to explore and shop as well. Used these portable speaker things so that you could hear what he was saying the whole time. Definitely enjoyed.
