Vi är lokala guider. Våra familjer har bott i många generationer i Varanasi, vilket gör att vi kan känna alla dolda hörn av denna vackra och antika stad, tillsammans med fascinerande berättelser om våra traditioner, historia, religion och vanliga människor som vi själva. Varanasi representerar Indiens själ. En besökare ensam kan aldrig hoppas på att avslöja mer än en bråkdel av dess hemligheter. Ändå, med vår hjälp, kommer du att kunna upptäcka kärnan i denna fängslande stad. Vår turné börjar vid mötesplatsen, varifrån vi ger oss ut på en 3 timmar lång resa för att upptäcka de viktigaste historiska och religiösa platserna. Vi kommer att besöka Ghats, krematorium, tempel, smala gator, marknader och populära matstånd, men också mindre turistiska platser som är nyckeln till att förstå verkligheten i det moderna Varanasi. Dashaswamedh Ghat:- Dashashwamedh ghat är en av de äldsta, mest spektakulära och viktiga ghaten, belägen vid stranden av floden Gange nära det gamla Vishwanath-templet i Kashi. Den bokstavliga betydelsen av Dashashwamedh är Ghat (flodens front) av de tio offrade hästarna (streck betyder 10, ashwa betyder häst, medh betyder offer). Det finns två mytologier om ghaten är att Herren Brahma skapades till Dashashwamedh ghat för att välkomna Herren Shiva, och den andra är att Herren Brahma offrade de tio hästarna i en yajna här. Denna ghat är känd för Agni Pooja som hålls här dagligen på kvällen av en grupp av prästen som är tillägnad Herren Shiva, floden Ganges, Surya, Agni såväl som hela universum.
Vishalakshi-templet, även känt som Vishalakshi Gauri-templet, är ett av de framstående templen i Varanasi som tillhör gudinnan Vishalakshi. Gudinnan Vishalakshi är en aspekt av gudinnan Parvati eller Gauri och tros ha stora ögon eftersom namnet också säger 'Vishalakshi = Vishal (stor) + akshi (ögon).' Den ligger vid Mir Ghat på stranden av Gangafloden. Templet anses vara en Shakti Pitha tillägnad den hinduiska gudomliga modern, Adi Shakti. Den populära heliga platsen i Varanasi är en del av den berömda triaden av tempel, Kanchi Kamakshi, Madurai Meenakshi och Kashi Visalakshi. Det anses att gudinnan Satis örhängen eller kundal hade fallit här.
Nepali Temple:- Shri Samrajeswar Pashupatinath Mahadev Mandir, även känd som Nepali Mandir, Kanthwala Mandir och Mini Khajuraho, är ett av de äldsta och mest kända templen i den heliga staden Varanasi. Detta tempel har stor religiös betydelse inom hinduismen och är tillägnat Herren Shiva. Mandiren är gjord av terrakotta, sten och trä och tog tre decennier att färdigställa. Träet är termitbeständigt. Den är konstruerad i nepalesisk arkitekturstil och är omgiven av tamarind och ficus religiosa (peepal) träd.
Manikarnika Ghat:- Denna Ghat är känd för att vara den heliga kremeringsplatsen för hinduer. Manikarnika Ghat är en av de heligaste kremeringsplatserna bland de heliga flodfronterna (Ghats), vid sidan av floden Ganges. Inom hinduismen anses döden vara en inkörsport till ett annat liv präglat av resultatet av ens karma. Man tror att en människas själ uppnår moksha och därmed bryter återfödelsens cykel när den kremeras här. Brunnen vid ghaten kallas Manikarnika Kund och byggdes av Lord Vishnu.
Enligt Lord Vishnu kommer hängivna som tar ett bad i Manikarnika och tillber Manikarnikeshwar inte att se moderns livmoder igen (vilket betyder - det kommer ingen återfödelse). Linga ligger under jorden, anhängare kan gå hela vägen ner för att få en darshan av Shri Manikarnikeshwar Mahadev.

This was the highlight of our visit to Varanasi. Akash was professional, knowledgeable and fun. He explained a lot of the intricacies of Hinduism, the crematiion process and traditions which gave us a deeper insight to this crazy city! He looked after us very well, would thoroughly recommenf.
This tour in Varanasi was really very interesting. The guide was super nice and helpful and the places visited (well 5) very charming. We also had access to a place usually closed to the public. Recommended! Duration about 3 hours.
