Det skyddade området Al Wathba Fossil Dunes består av mer än 1 700 fossila sanddyner, utspridda över 7 kvadratkilometer, vilket gör det till ett av de största antalet fossila sanddyner koncentrerade till en plats i emiratet. Geologer uppskattar åldern på fossila formationer inom det skyddade området till över fyra miljoner år.

Byggnaden ligger på en kulle 197 meter över havet och är 23,5 meter hög – mycket högre än Hollywoods skylt (13,7 meter).
Moreeb Dune eller Tal Moreeb är en stor sanddyn belägen i närheten av Liwa Oasis vid öknen Empty Quarter i Förenade Arabemiraten. You might as well stop reading after this sentence: Shafeel is amazing, and so is what he has to show! We managed to get Shafeel's phone number from somebody who had been on a day trip with him and contacted him directly via WhatsApp. Everything went really well and without any problems. He gave us his price for what we wanted, we agreed on a date, he answered all our questions and we loosely stayed in touch until the day of our trip. He picked us up with his convenient SUV right in front of our hotel at the agreed time, even WhatsApped us shortly before to let us know that he'd be there soon. What followed was an amazing day! Not only does Shafeel obviously know his way around - including during a 60km-trip through the desert far off any roads - he knows the greatest little spots next to the road and in the desert and he is very knowledgable about the sights we visited, the places we passed and about Emirati life in general. Ask and you will get answers! We didn't just have an amazing day as far as the places we visited are concerned, we also had very interesting conversations so that the trip never became boring even though it involves a lot of driving - which he did in an excellent manner by the way. You can relax and Shafeel does the thinking for you, be it water and soft drinks, be it the next toilet stop or be it the next amazing photo opportunity. Shafeel, we would like to thank you once again for this day which we will never forget! Good luck for you, your business and your family. With your commitment and attitude you should be fine :-)
Great experience to spend a day in the Liwa Desert and fully immerse yourself in its dunes. Absolutely recommended!
First experience in the sandy desert of Liwa Desert: a truly unforgettable experience. A whole day among endless dunes, until we reached a small hidden oasis where we had lunch in the shade of palm trees. The driver, a very experienced guide and a real sand driver, made us have a great time. Watching the sunset at the end of the journey was the perfect ending: simply breathtaking. Absolutely to do but also repeat.
It's just great. The depth of the landscape combined with the shaffel driving experience made a memorable day that I will always carry with me. Too bad for my basic English that did not allow me to deepen specific issues of that territory. Desert village Tours and Safari was up to our every desire. One of the best experiences to remember in our UAE trip. From the beginning to end, Shafeel and Munaj made sure we were comfortable at the same time go out there and enjoy the fullest. We drove two land cruisers, one for fun dune bashing, another for a calm desert safari experience where our little champ and 2 brave young 70 years’ bask in joy. Highlights of the trip was lunch at date farm, experiencing cool adrenaline rush bashing down the Moreeb dunes followed by a beautiful sunset ofcourse with some fun sandboarding. We ended the trip with a visit to LIWA sign, world’s largest. Very sweet gesture by the team to have presented our little one(7 months) with an appreciation certificate for being the youngest to do the safari. Also thanks for the cool clicks, a bonus !! We couldn’t have imagined a better experience. Totally recommended. Kudos to Shafeel and Munaj for making it a memorable one for our family.
We had a wonderful time! Took the trip from Abu Dhabi with some of us doubting if this was a good idea given that we had two 70+ and one 7 month old in the group. But hats off to Shafeel and Munaj and even Ranjith who was there for the initial part of the trip that they accommodated everyone. Rest of us could enjoy the dune bashing in a different car while still enjoying the overall trip together. All in all a very good experience.
We (66/72 years) made a wonderful day trip to the LIWA desert with Shafeel. We started from Dubai first to a salt lake and then to the rock formations abraded by sand and wind. All very impressive. Then we went on with the comfortable Landcruiser into the right desert. The impressions are unique! Shafeel then drove up and down the dunes safely and emotionally. We even saw a desert owl and gazelles. At the end there was a great sunset on the highest dune in the LIWA oasis. It was a great and worth seeing tour with the best guide and driver you could wish for.
We had an unforgettable day trip with Shafeel in the Liwa Desert! Dune bashing was so much fun for us and we felt very safe at every second. Shafeel knew exactly what he was doing. We spent the perfect ending at sunset all alone in the desert. We will certainly remember that for a long time with a smile back. Everyone must have experienced this excursion once. We took Shafeel on a day trip through the desert. We drove 3h really across the desert. The dunes up and down, really cool, a bit like riding a roller coaster. Shafeel kept asking us if everything was as we imagined. A lunch break in a small date farm and the sunset on the morning dune, as a perfect conclusion. We can fully recommend the tour and especially Shafeel as a guide.
Our overnight trip to the desert was absolutely amazing. It was exactly what I had hoped for. Far away from any other people, tourists, no luxury camp, but just a very simple and back to basic tent all by yourself in the middle of the desert. It was my best experience in the desert so far, and I've had a couple. I would highly recommend this if you are adventurous and want something unique, and are not afraid to leave the modern world behind for a day.
