Booked a private tour with myquestconcierge to visit Chichen Itza. Our guide Pepe arrived promptly and the early start to the 2 hour journey proved worthwhile. The site opened just as we got there so not only did we avoid the heat and humidity but also many coaches of tourists. Pepe was very knowledgeable and spend over 3 hours guiding us through the area. He then took us to an excellent restaurant for a buffet lunch followed by a visit to a Cenote. What an experience! The nearby town of Valladolid was next on the list where we spent time visiting the church, town square and shops selling local crafts and food. Pepe ensured we were comfortable throughout the journey and kept us supplied with cold drinks. A very considerate and wonderful guide.
Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We’re truly delighted to hear that you had such a memorable experience. Starting early is one of the best ways to enjoy this incredible site, and we’re glad you were able to avoid the crowds and heat while making the most of your visit. Pepe will be especially happy to hear your kind words — his knowledge, attentiveness, and care for our guests are exactly what we strive to deliver every day. It’s great to know you enjoyed the full experience, from the guided exploration to the buffet lunch, the refreshing cenote, and the cultural charm of Valladolid. Javier Sánchez is an amazing tour guide! He was extremely knowledgeable and a great photographer. He is also very patient as we were late a few times and he responded very nicely. I would 100% recommend this tour and having Javier be your guide.

The day we did this tour was when access to Chichen Itza became blocked, so we weren't able to go there. Instead went to an archaeological site and a different cenote. Still stopped at Valladolid, which was nice mainly just as a stop to use the restroom and stretch our legs. We just lucked out on going at the wrong time and appreciate that the tour was at least able to change plans last minute. If I ever do come back to the area, I'd probably do a private tour to just see Chichen Itza itself. Got some info on various history, etc. from the tour guide, but would like much more, and more detailed information, so will watch a good documentary or something to learn more about the area and Mayan history.
Hola, I appreciate your comment, still today the access to Chichen Itza Its closed, the president AMLO is supposed to arrived today to try to solve the situation. Its good you decided to go to Ek Balam, still siome impressive archaeological site, and yes, you should do the private one for Chichen Itza, we will be glad to assist you when that happens. Thank you for your understanding, hope to see you again soon!!
We took this Excursion through Xcaret.com Adventura our guides were Eduardo, Jennifer and Ivan. This was a very full day of adventures. The knowledgeable guides were fantastic. The history and the Story of the Mayan people just amazed us. The History and the story continually unfolding during our professional tour. I would recommend this to everyone. Still awestruck. Gracios for sharing your day with us... Eduardo, Jennifer & Ivan From Christina & Keith Cornwall Elliott
Hola amigos, its nice to hear from you, we will let the crew know about your kind words, we are glad you had an amazing time with us, and for sure hope to see you again soon.
What an excellent day! It was long, but quite amazing. The stop for shopping was not too long and we bought some nice obsidian pieces. Prices are always negotiable and there is always a "deal" there! They took credit cards which simplified things. Lunch was really quite nice for a buffet. Vegetarian options were limited (but I was eating the amazing tacos with carnitas, so it was not an issue). Drinks were not included, but were rather inexpensive. Note: They take your picture to sell you a bottle of the local liquor (which is really quite nice -- kinda like a Jagger shot, but sweet with the taste of local honey). Chichen Itza was just amazing. The scope of the place is just beyond what photos can convey. It was very, very hot and humid. Glad I had a wide brimmed hat (though you can buy one there). Vendors are very aggressive. Masks were supposedly required, though many were not wearing (given the oppressive heat, it was not surprising). The cenote was really fun. It is set up like a Colonial Era Bathhouse, but it is just a cool sunken lake with a waterfall literally falling into it. Bring a waterproof pocket for your cellphone to get pix. The water is cool, but it felt SOOO welcome after the hot day. The stop in Valladolid was really just to pick up some dinner for the trip back. We were certainly hungry after all the walking and swimming (and lunch was early). There is a "food court" with lots of options. Food there was just OK, but cheap and filling. It was a very long day and it took us a bit to get a taxi from the dropoff point (should have added the dispatch to WhatsApp). Guides were very funny and informative. They do press you for tips at the end of the day, so be sure to have some money on hand at the end of the day.
After 4 years we returned to this Tour. From the departure of our Hotel in Playacar to the return we enjoyed and learned. Yazmin, a genius of 3 languages that I use every moment to give us information. Angel, our driver and guide in Spanish, conveyed every feeling of Mayan culture. Their good energy and the whole transmission of culture are valued. The cenote Samaal at Hacienda Selva Maya was a refreshing experience. Beautiful! It is worth the short stop in Valladolid, to value the history of struggle of the peoples for their independence. THANK YOU
Mostly disappointed. The guides were friendly but the area was insanely crowded. There were so many guides yelling over each other it was hard to focus and then they all take turns clapping for the echo which also keeps you from hearing the info. It’s either super hot or raining there so they charge you to rent an umbrella. Come prepared. The cenote was beautiful and refreshing but also very crowded and you pay to rent the life vest. Overall it was ok but I’d find something else to do.
Hola, thank you for your review, we are sorry the Archaeological site was not as you expected, Since Chichen Itza was declared one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the visitors duplicated, the weather is sometimes rough, thank you for your tip, we will inform all of our customers to bring an umbrella, cap, sunglasses, and maybe a change of clothes in case you get wet during the expedition. This information will be avilable for all of our customers at the booking time. We are glad you enjoy the Cenote, its one of the most impressive in the area. Once again thank you for your words, we will keep on working into this tour to make a great experience.
The trip was adequate. Stops at Chichen Itza, Cenote and Valladolid was great. They should have used the time at the Mayan village (1.5h)and cut down Chichen Itza (2.5h) each by half an hour as we only had 40min for the cenote and 20min Valladolid. The busdriver left us twice standing for 10+Min outside in the blazing heat while he was sleeping in the aircon bus. Our bus arrived 30min late. The english speaking tour guide at Chichen Itza was useless and I got more info from google. Best would be to try a different tour as it was more sale of local produce than informative.
I'm sorry to hear this. We have send your review to all the people involve in the activity so we can make it better in every way. Thanks for your comment. I will personally check why does this happen to you. Cheers Mao
