Azerbajdzjanska historiker har hittat dokument i ryska arkiv som bekräftar att en oljekälla borrades vid Bibi-Heybat-fältet nära Baku 1846. Denna brunn kan alltså anses vara världens första, eftersom den dök upp 13 år innan kommersiell oljeproduktion började i USA.
Bibi-Heybet (tant till aktern) är en "pir" som ligger nära bergen i Baku mitt på en stor kyrkogård. Graven till Bibi-Heybet, en av profeten Muhammeds släktingar, ligger i en stor moské, mycket villigt besökt av muslimer. Bibi-Heybet är känd för sin mirakulösa kraft att bota sjuka. Många av muslimerna testamenterar för att begravas nära denna moské.
En lervulkan är en geologisk formation som består av ett hål eller en fördjupning i jordytan, eller en konformad höjd med en krater, från vilken lera och gaser kontinuerligt eller periodiskt bryter ut. Denna typ av vulkan finns främst i oljeförande och vulkaniska områden.
Gobustan är ett av världens mest kända historiska och arkeologiska reservat, ett friluftsmuseum med en enorm samling av ovärderliga historiska artefakter
"Ateshgah" elddyrkartempel - de första strukturerna i Ateshgah-templet går tillbaka till andra och tredje århundradena. Vid den tiden spreds zoroastrismen i Azerbajdzjan och zoroastriska tempel började byggas i regionerna. Ateshgah-templet i Surakhani fungerade fram till VII-talet. Det är känt att islam antogs i Azerbajdzjan under VII-talet.
Yanardag är en av de mest fantastiska naturattraktionerna på Absheron-halvön. Det är en flammande bergssida som inte kan släckas av regn eller sand, och har brunnit i flera årtusenden. Det skrämmande men ändå fascinerande eldiga landskapet är faktiskt väldigt enkelt att förklara: naturgas frigörs från de övre jordlagren, som förvandlas till lågor när den kommer i kontakt med syre.

Wonderful tour. Riad was an amazing guide who shared a lot of knowledge with us making it super easy and fun to then experience the sights. He was also super fun to have with you that he made the tour really really fun. Extremely helpful he answered every question with clarity. Great guy.
If you are interested in culture and history, take this tour! We saw wonderful places and learned so much. Riad, our guide, was very knowledgeable and thorough. He was able to answer all of our questions (and I’m a historian, so that’s really important to me). He also promoted camaraderie among our group members. We really enjoyed the experience!
Had an excellent day on this tour with Riad, an amazing guide! The best part for me was that the itinerary was organized to see the places outside of Baku that would be challenging to reach efficiently if I was doing it on my own. I appreciated that the tour covered all the places that were intended; the timing ran long because of heavy traffic in Baku. Some other guests were able to break off based on their own needs. The lunch was great! Riad made sure everyone was seeing everything and speaks Russian & English perfectly. Riad was entertaining and engaging. No one will be bored. Good communication too about meeting location and timing.

Ryad was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, energetic, patient and passionate. He gave very good and thorough explanations. He masters several languages, and made sure that everyone in the group understands. The only main setback with the tour is the lunch. First of all it is quite late (15-16). Second of all - the resturant is a tourist trap. The resturant called "bibi restaurant" (you can check the reviews), the prices are 3-4 times more than most restaurants. The food isn't good - isn't tasty and in small portions. All the people who eats there are people from tours, how clearly don't know any better. If you can order tickets to this tour without already pay for lunch then don't reserve lunch. It is better to just go to any other restaurant near by and eat there. Last thing - in the description it said that the tour include visit to Heydar Aliyev Center, but the itinerary doesn't mention it - and in the tour itself we indeed never visited there.
Riadh is a great guide! So energetic, positive, and talkative. We learned so much from him. The tour itself was good, but without him, it wouldn’t have been the same. This tour hits all of the highlights and was the perfect amount of time at each stop. I was thoroughly impressed. You would be SO LUCKY if you have Riad as your guide. 1) he’s extremely knowledgeable, 2) he’s on top of time, 3) you can tell from the beginning he’s passionate and wants to make sure you learn about the subject matter. You will leave with a greater appreciation of Azerbaijani history. 10/10 this company is legit.
The tour guide is professional, patient, always smiles when facing group members from all walks of life, and explains history in a very engaging way. He can explain in three languages, Azerbaijani, Russian, and English, and is very professional. The driver's attitude was good; they didn't overtake, and even when encountering road construction in the deep mountains with poor road conditions, they drove smoothly and calmly, which made us feel very safe. In terms of dining, the food is not bad, and the restaurant environment is also very elegant, feeling very comfortable.
Our guide Elvin was great and patient and we ended up seeing most of the important things around baku. Only thing was we were stuck in traffic for a long time because of formula 1.
We really enjoyed this tour and had a great day discovering Azerbaijan. Our guide, Riad, was definitely the highlight. He is incredibly knowledgeable, cultured, and genuinely passionate about sharing his knowledge. What made the experience especially special for us as Algerians was how naturally he connected with us and found similarities between our cultures. His stories and explanations made every place we visited much more interesting. Gobustan and the mud volcanoes were fascinating and definitely among the memorable experiences of our trip. We came away with great memories and would happily recommend this tour, especially with Riad as your guide! ❤️
