Medan större delen av besöket kommer att tillbringas här! Vi kommer att täcka alla populära hållplatser med kommentarer. Följande områden kommer att besökas: Volcano House, Visitor Center, Kilauea med utsikt över Halemaumau Crater, ångventiler och svaveldioxidbankar, Kilauea Iki Crater, Laumanu Crater och Nahuku lavarör.
De största och lokalt odlade grönsakerna och frukterna finns på Hilo Farmers Market som är bekvämt beläget i den historiska staden Hilo. Gästerna får en timme för lunch i detta område fullt av restauranger och lokala butiker.
Ett av de mest ikoniska vattenfallen som rinner nerför floden Wailuku som ligger i Hilo. Känd för Regnbågar som kan vara scenen när solen träffar dimman nedanför. Många tropiska träd och växter att se och röra i detta område, inklusive en berömd 1/4 hektar Banyan Tree som många turister och lokalbefolkningen älskar att klättra och gunga från.
Utforska en historisk botanisk trädgård på 24 hektar nära Hilo Bay som hyser många arter av eukalyptusträd, apträd och tropisk vegetation på ön. Många broar över saltvattensbassänger fulla av tropisk fisk kan ses och utforskas. Mycket ofta kan Hawaiigäss som kallas Nene's (statsfågel) ses här också.
En exklusiv lokal godisfabrik där besökare kan prova sina berömda ö-delikatesser som de många macadamianötkakorna doppade i en mängd olika chokladsorter. Även gratis prov på Kona eller Kau kaffe! Upplev och se produktionsteamet genom stora fönster när de varsamt tillverkar, hanterar och packar sina fantastiska produkter!
En populär Black Sand Beach i Hilo känd för Honu's (hawaiian gröna havssköldpaddor) som simmar och kopplar av i saltvatten tidvatten pooler. Här surfar, simmar, snorklar och utforskar turister och lokalbefolkning de många aktiviteter som finns på denna ö paradis eller hitta en cool plats under ett kokosträd att hänga!

There are many options for tours of the volcano, but we chose the one with Justin. We were so excited to be with him. Being a local he has extensive knowledge about every site we visited. We learned so much about the culture, the people, the history in the island itself. He knows the right places to go for pictures and just the right amount of time to spend at each site. We would highly recommend anyone choosing Justin. This was the best decision we made for a truly enjoyable day. Thank you, Justin for everything. Donna and Jay
Excellent, very fun and almost like family
Justin at Makaio Tours made sure we had a wonderful experience touring the volcano and waterfall sites on Hilo. He got us in to see the volcano eruption before the crowds and knew the best locations to get the best views. He is a native Hawaiian who knows native lore as well as being extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the volcano, local plants, geology and culture. His earlier radio DJ experience mixed with his local upbringing made for a very fun atmosphere. You can tell he truly loves people - it shows. Highly recommended!!!!
We were picked up in a clean new vehicle by a great guy, Justin. The experiences were amazing, beautiful, colorful beaches and waterfalls and we saw lava flow and steam vents at the volcano! Because of the hurricane road closures, we couldn’t see the lava tube, but he took us to a macadamia nut factory and a cookie factory that had a garden with all sorts of cool local plants. And they had samples and delicious ice cream.
Justin was a very friendly, funny and knowledgeable tour guide. We had a great time. We lucked out and saw lava flowing from the volcano.
Fantastic day With Justin! He was a fantastic guide and told us a lot of local stories. We missed the volcanic eruption by one day.☹️ however we did get to see the venting of the volcanoes. Justin shared some pictures he had of past eruptions.

This has to be the #1 top tour to take if visiting the big island! Justin is an amazing guide, extremely knowledgeable and fun. The tour was timed perfectly, we got to experience a full day of extremely interesting history on top of some great sights. A++
