Fiskhandel, butiker i tidigare fabriksbyggnader, gamla lager som förvandlas till lägenheter och många traditionella och nya köksrestauranger finns längs vattnet. Här möter modern arkitektur gamla pilots och kapteners hus. De många bryggorna på vägen fungerar som utgångspunkt för olika fritidsbåtturer upp och ner Elben.

The walk through the port is pleasant. In our case we took the two-hour tour at a price of about €30. We toured some of the city's canals, the shipyards, cruise ship terminals, containers, and beaches and residential areas. On the negative side, the boat crew member explains everything only in German. Without the comments, at least in English, it gets a bit boring. Drinks are sold on the boat at a good price and there is a toilet.

The tour guide made walking along the Elbe, both educative and entertaining. We learnt about the fish trading that happens in Hamburg and Hamburg’s maritime history. The local traditional food is something unique. We had a good time in this tour.
