Halvdags privat e-cykeltur i Rio

Idén att ta en elcykeltur i Rio föddes från min passion för cykling och min kärlek till staden där jag valde att bo. Efter flera dagars trampande genom skogen med en vanlig cykel började jag undra hur det skulle vara möjligt att göra denna upplevelse genomförbar för många fler. Det var så jag tänkte på att köpa elcyklar som kan hjälpa dem som behöver dem på vägen. (cyklarna är pedalassisterade, har ingen gaspedalen och är inte en motorcykel) Under denna upplevelse kommer du att få möjlighet att lära känna många underbara platser, inte särskilt tillgängliga och mindre kända. I slutet av dagen kommer du att få en annan bild av Rio de Janiero, och du kommer att veta mycket mer om hur staden är sammansatt och uppbyggd. Utöver detta kommer du att vara i ständig kontakt med naturen, med möjliga och troliga möten med tukaner, apor och många andra exotiska djur.

Vi träffas på Rua Aarão Reis 105, där jag kommer att visa dig hur elcyklar fungerar och ge dig råd om hur du tar dig an turen. Vi börjar cykla genom området Santa Teresa i riktning mot Mirante Dona Marta, och passerar genom olika turistpunkter som Castelo Valentim, Mirante Dos Prazeres och CEAT-skolan, inspirerad av det gamla palatset i Florens.
Vi kommer fram till Mirante Dona Marta, en av de vackraste utsiktspunkterna i staden, där vi kommer att parkera cyklarna och ta olika bilder med utsikt över Kristus Återlösaren och Sockerlimpan och jag kommer att förklara hur staden är uppbyggd.
Från Mirante Dona Marta åker vi till Centro de Visante Paneiras (Kristus återlösarens parkering), där det finns ett badrum och en bar för att ta en paus.
Från Centro de Visante Paneiras börjar vi cykelvägen innanför vägarna i Tijuca-skogen. Vi kommer att passera många otroliga vyer över den underbara staden, vi kommer att ha möjliga möten med apor, tukaner och andra exotiska djur. Vi kommer att nå Alto da Boa Vista-distriktet genom att ta oss ner från Corcovado (berget där Kristus återlösaren ligger), där det kommer att finnas möjlighet att gå på toaletten och fräscha upp oss.
Från Alto da Boa Vista-distriktet kommer vi att återuppta vår tur i riktning mot kejsarens bord, inför ytterligare en stigning som kommer att göras mindre tröttsam med hjälp av pedalhjälp. Kejsarens bord är platsen där kejsar Dom Pedro II brukade ha picknick, med en otrolig utsikt över det södra området av Rio de Janeiro.
Från kejsarens bord börjar vi gå ner mot Vista Chinesa, en av de mest kända och minst tillgängliga utsiktspunkterna i staden. Härifrån kommer det att vara möjligt att se Kristus Återlösaren, Sugar Loaf, Lagoa, Ipanema, Guanabara Bay och många andra platser i staden. Jag ska ta flera souvenirbilder och vi börjar den sista nedstigningen till Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.
Från Vista Chinesa kommer vi att gå ner mot Lagoa, passera genom Horto-vattenfallen (plats där det kommer att vara möjligt att stanna för att ta bilder och ta ett snabbt bad) och till sidan av Rios botaniska trädgård. Vi kommer att åka en bra del av Lagoa cykelväg, där det finns olika otroliga vyer över Rio, mot Copacabana.
Vi kommer söder om Copacabana-stranden och vi kommer att täcka hela cykelvägen mot Botafogo.
Från Copacabana följer vi cykelvägen och når Botafogo-stranden, där det blir en spektakulär utsikt över Sockertoppen.
Från stranden i Botafogo fortsätter vi cykelvägen som tar oss till den vackraste och mest berömda parken i Rio, terro do Flamengo. Vi kommer att täcka den nästan helt, passera längs Flamengo-stranden, och vi kommer tillbaka till startpunkten, Santa Teresa, inför dagens sista stigning.
Vi kommer fram till Santa Teresa och passerar genom den mest kända och turistiska gatan i grannskapet, där jag kommer att visa dig botiquer och restauranger. Från Largo dos Guimaraes åker vi till startpunkten (några meter bort) där turen slutar.

We did the tour with Stefano from www.vitacarioca.com (I recommend visiting his page for more details and other tours) on the first day we arrived in Rio and we were delighted. I can say it was the best experience in Rio, on par with Christ the Redeemer or Sugarloaf Mountain, but with the advantage of not having the crowds of those places. If you want to escape the typical crowded tours, this is your option; being able to go through the jungle with hardly anyone around is priceless. Jungle, beautiful landscapes, stunning views, and Stefano was a 10, very friendly, talking about the animals, giving city and food tips, etc. The bicycles were excellently maintained; they were not heavy even without electric assistance (I have tried others that felt like moving a dead weight without it), and they come with spare batteries. Everything was very well planned. Although the tour is not advertised in Spanish, do not hesitate to do it if you only speak Spanish, as he speaks and understands it perfectly at 95%. I had a fantastic experience with Vita Carioca and would definitely recommend their e-mountainbike tours. Communication was smooth from the start—everything was arranged via WhatsApp, and I could easily discuss route options in advance. They generally suggest different routes in Tijuca National Park (around 30–50 km) as well as a more urban option; I chose the longer park tour and it was absolutely worth it. Despite Rio’s heat, the temperature in the park was surprisingly comfortable, and with the e-bikes the distance is very manageable. I especially appreciated how safe everything felt—no riding through favelas—and how you get to see a completely different, green side of Rio that’s easy to miss otherwise. The guide was attentive and well-organized, even coordinating with my Uber driver beforehand to ensure a safe ride to Santa Teresa. Along the way, we had plenty of scenic stops, amazing views of Corcovado, and even spotted two sloths. The equipment was high quality (helmet included), and you can adjust the difficulty easily by controlling the level of assistance on the bike. After the tour, I received lots of great photos and videos, and the guide even dropped me off at the Selarón Steps, which was a nice extra touch. Overall, a really enjoyable and unique way to explore Rio.

If you’re after a unique and energetic view of Rio this is the tour for you. Stefano guided us through some amazing parts of Rio that most tourist would not experience. Being on an e-bike gave us a real connection to the environment which included the forest as well as the city and beaches. We saw several types of monkeys, turtles, toucans and lots of other birds. We covered 50km in 6 hours which should be considered when booking this. Totally worth the effort. Thanks Stefano for a memorable tour.

Our e-bike tour was the highlight of our trip to Rio. The ride started at our guides local suburb, which gave us more authentic feel of the city. Great bikes that made things effortless so we could relax and enjoy the views. Stefano was friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we felt safe navigating both the greener areas and the coastal paths. We’ve been visiting Rio for many years. This tour provided by Stefano was so much fun. We were able to see things from a perspective we’ve never seen before. Stefano did an excellent job leading us up and down the hills and throughout the city. This was one of our favorite memories from our trip. Not to mention we impressed our adult kids doing 50k and surviving. Thanks once again Stefano- we are definitely coming back and bringing our kids on this tour.
