De arkeologiska utgrävningarna av Herculaneum har återställt resterna av den antika staden Herculaneum, begravd under en filt av aska, lapilli och lera under utbrottet av Vesuvius på 79, tillsammans med Pompeii, Stabiae och Oplonti. Funnet slumpmässigt efter utgrävningarna för byggandet av en brunn år 1709, började de arkeologiska undersökningarna i Herculaneum 1738.

Lello was a fantastic guide very informative with a good sense of humour
We were not told when we booked this that we were being added onto a TUI trip which meant the coach was 20 mins late picking us up and we took nearly 1 hour 45 minutes dropping people off at their hotels afterwards Our guide was ok but walking around for over 2 hours in the sun was tiring Major issue this was not what eas expected. We are not on a TUI holiday!!!
Very late bus. No response from tour company to try and find out what was happening. Very disappointing
Our guide was great. Very interactive and knowledgeable. So much more interesting than outcrop to Pompei.
Smaller than Pompeii ruins. I liked it better because it wasn’t overwhelming. About 1 1/2 hours to do it. Very well preserved!
Fabulous trip to see the wonders of Roman invention and engineering. Much smaller than Pompeii but much better preserved.
Fantastic tour which I would definitely do again. Travel to and from Herculaneum was in a very comfortable, air conditioned bus and was relaxing. Our guide Lorenzo was brilliant: very funny, entertaining and knowledgeable.
Easy to get bus to site abundant fancy the public train and walking after an exhausting day before at Pompeii. Guide was excellent although there were technical issues and we couldn’t use headsets so missed some information.
Excellent tour and the guide was brilliant, warm and funny and very knowledgeable. Really enjoyed the day. A little heads up if you are staying at Grand Hotel la Pace, the bus will not pick up or drop you at the hotel, you must walk down and back up the hill for about 10 minutes. I am unsure of why as all other members of our group were dropped at their hotel gates. Also on return from Herculaneum, the bus passed by very close to our drop off location first (within a minutes drive), but we were on the bus a further 40 minutes or so past our destination, on a round trip dropping other guests off so bear this in mind for lunch etc as we narrowly missed the end of service cut off. The tour though really was excellent and very engaging and can thoroughly recommend our guide. He really did bring Herculaneum to life.
Our half day trip to Herculaneum was very pleasant but seemed a little rushed. Because of its size, our group was split into two and we were joined by another guide, who seemed quite knowledgeable about the excavation site but was pressed for time to join another tour. Still, we were plenty impressed with this small ancient village, how they mastered running water and created beautiful sculptures and frescoes that last to today. It was a very worthwhile trip.
