Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya ligger cirka 5,5 km väster om staden Kandy i Sri Lankas centrala provins. Under 2016 besöktes trädgården av 1,2 miljoner lokalbefolkning och 400 000 utländska besökare. Det är nära Mahaweli River (den längsta floden i Sri Lanka). Det är känt för sin samling av orkidéer. Trädgården omfattar mer än 4000 arter av växter, inklusive orkidéer, kryddor, medicinalväxter och palmer. Bifogat till den är "Sri Lankas nationella herbarium".
Under andra världskriget var staden Kandy värd för Sydostasiatiska kommandots högkvarter och var en nyckelplats för krigsinsatsen. Bahirawakanda buddhastaty Ungefär 2 kilometer från Kandys centrum ligger ett buddhisttempel från Theravada som kallas Sri Maha Bodhi Viharaya och även känt som Bahirawakanda-templet. Templet är känt för sin gigantiska vita staty av Lord Buddha, kallad Bahirawakanda Vihara Buddha Statue, som står på 88 fot, en av de högsta Buddha-statyerna på ön.

Ämnet för hårda strider, det sägs att tanden – en av Buddhas tänder och därför en av de viktigaste buddhistiska relikerna – först fördes till Sri Lanka på 300-talet e.Kr. och har varit en del av den lokala regionens politik. alltsedan. Legenden säger att den som äger tanden har styrning över det lokala området. Själva tandens tempel byggdes dock först 1603, med det nuvarande templet som går tillbaka till 1700-talet.

Well-planned day tour that we were able to see many parts of Kandy.
Had a good experience. Communication was excellent using WhatsApp. Irfan was kind and patient. Don't expect a lot of information about the places. Botanical garden was beautiful and well maintained and a must visit place.

The three of us joined a half-day Tuktuk trip with Irfan, and the experience was amazing. Irfan was patient, experienced, and very communicative. He also recommended good lunch spot to us that we all loved dearly. Would definitely recommend anyone who’s planning on visiting Kandy to go on this tour, especially with Irfan.

We drove from Kandy to Sigiriya and looked at Lions Rock after a 20 minute ascent. It was a really nice experience. Afterwards we went to the cave temples. We really liked the tour. A special thanks goes to our driver Irfan, who provided us with a lot of useful information about Sri Lanka during the trip. It was really interesting, thank you Irfan! We would recommend the tour.

Mr Irfan was on time, dressed immaculately and was happy to design the tour totally around my needs. There was no shopping or sales involved, which made me very happy. He escorted me to the Botanical gardens. made sure I got in and gave me flexibility in how long I wanted to stay. He explained and gave me choices all along the way he was very receptive to my needs and regularly offering me food, water or rest. He told me about his family and also was very interested in my life. I felt very fortunate that he had guided me through my city tour in Kandy. He took me up on either side of the city and the views were tremendous. Before going to the temple of the tooth he made sure that I had a good lunch and rest. He was always exactly where he said he would be and at no time did I wait for him anywhere. I can’t recommend him strongly enough for a solo traveler he was my perfect guide. After the tour, he sent me videos and pictures that he had taken also during the day and even noticed when we went to the traditional dance show that I was not taking pictures so therefore he did.. This was the best way to see Kandy and our guide, Irfan was excellent. He made sure we saw all the cultural sites and were comfortable throughout the trip. He explained the local history and helped us understand the religious aspects of each visit. By the end of our half day tour we were able to plan the rest of our visit with confidence. We had a fabulous day with our tuktuk driver Irfan! All of the sites were very interesting and gave us a great cultural understanding of Kandy. We felt very safe as Irfan navigated the busy city with ease and felt that he was a very experienced driver. A highlight from the trip was definitely the big Buddha and Kandy dance. Irfan even took us up to the Kandy lookout at sunset as we didn’t go earlier in the day due to the rain - it was a great end to our day! Highly recommend this tour if you are staying in Kandy!

We had 2 tuk tuks with our family which was perfect. Very knowledgeable and nice tuk tuk drivers. Perfect and relaxed way to see all the highlights of kandy. Recommended!
