Haleakala Sunset upplevelse

It was great . The tour guide Michael was super nice and informative. The food was good. I'd check to make sure if you are doing the tour to see lots of stars check the weather and the moon phases. To see the most stars. I did have a bad experience with the parking at the Park and ride my rental car tire was stolen. The tour guide Michael went out of his way to help me replace the tire and waited till we were safe to leave the area.

We went in September 2026. The clouds prevented us from seeing the sunset from the top but our guide kept trying places until we were able to see the beautiful sunset. He also stopped at a place where we could see the stars and the Milky Way. How impressive! The guide's knowledge of Hawai'i made the trip even more enjoyable. Great job!

We did the sunset tour on September 2026. While we couldn’t view the sunset from the summit due to the clouds, our guide took us down to lower elevations where we could see the colors and then eventually the stars. It was very clear our guide was super knowledgeable and passionate about the history and culture of the islands. He told so many stories while we drove and my husband and I learned a lot. It was nice that both of us could enjoy the scenery rather than one of us paying attention to the road!

Our trip to the Haleakalā summit was as fantastic as the Sunset we experienced. Mike made the trip up and down the volcano with interesting commentary on the places we passed and Hawaiian history and culture. We stoped at a fruit stand, several viewpoints and the Menehune forest. Good choices for a tasty dinner. Dress in layers as it’s cold up on summit. Very, very enjoyable tour. I would definitely recommend instead of sunrise. Thanks Mike for a great time.

Good tour. Good guide. Experienced company. Pickup communication could be better. Company did not notify us bus was late until we had already arrived at the pickup spot. Then the still 15 minutes later that revised schedule. Left us standing in a grocery parking lot for 35+ minutes wondering where our tour was. Original date choice canceled without explanation causing scheduling frustration. Having Viator as a middleman seemed to block understanding of real schedule options, pickup options and the overall tour process process. This cost the review a point. More details. Tour guide was a wealth of information. Good number of stops at appropriate places (bathrooms and views). Tour guide was great at taking photos with the perfect background. Hot chocolate after stargazing was greatly appreciated. Dinner was only mediocre.

Worth the early wake up. Our guide, Cory, shared info on the constellations, geography, history, and culture. All this and a glorious sunset above the clouds.

We took the Haleakala Sunset Tour through Haleakala Ecotours. It was the best excursion we have ever experienced. Michael was very knowledgeable about Maui and the history of Hawaii. The van ride was enjoyable thanks to his storytelling. Our stop for dinner brought great sandwiches. The summit at sunset with stargazing when everyone else left was fantastic!

We did the Haleakala Sunset tour and it was a really great excursion! Mike was our driver and he was informative and funny and made sure he drove in a manner so we would not get sick (pretty windy roads and a big rise in elevation) We watched the gorgeous sunset above the clouds and then stayed until the sun went all the way down to look at the stars. It was the only tour bus that stayed for the stars. Amazing! We could see the Milky Way with our naked eye and I believe I got a shot of the comet. This tour included a delish supper from a local cafe that we ate on the bus while waiting for the sunset. Mike had several special touches that were really sweet (sworn to secrecy), they were like the cherry on top. Highly recommend this tour! Dress warmly, it gets pretty cold at that elevation.

Michael was an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. We did the sunset tour and it was beautiful. The weather was a tad cloudy at the summit but that’s to be expected with weather. It was still beautiful despite some clouds! Michael provided a lot of great information and was very welcoming and connected well with us and others on the tour. We’d recommend this tour and certainly would recommend Michael as a guide!
