I denna turné kommer vi att klättra till toppen av favelan tillsammans med invånarna där turisten kommer att känna atmosfären i favelan och ta en rundtur i gränderna och gränderna där favelans historia berättas. Precis vid ingången till favelan är platsen där några scener från filmen Fast and Furious 5 spelades in. A great way to see how 50% of Rio live and a far cry from the beaches of Copacabana. Despite the minimal living space and rudimentary facilities there is a n order to how things work in the Favelas. Our guide Leonardo was great and for those concerned with the security aspect we felt safe and people were unerringly polite. We’ll worth doing. Santa Marta is one of the smaller favelas so you can cover it in a couple of hours and there is a funicular that transports you to the Chapel at the top…then it’s all downhill.

The view from the favelas was what I liked the most. I recommend other visitors to visit only one favela as we did on this tour.
