Gizas stora pyramid är den äldsta pyramiden på Gizaplatån och den största pyramiden, byggd för farao Khufu omkring 2580 f.Kr. Den var ursprungligen 146 meter hög och bestod av cirka 2,3 miljoner kalkstensblock. Den fungerade som Khufus kungliga grav och är det enda överlevande underverket i den antika världens sju underverk.
Den andra pyramiden i Giza, även känd som Khafrepyramiden, byggdes för kung Khafre, son till Khufu. Den är något mindre än den stora pyramiden men verkar högre eftersom den är byggd på högre mark och fortfarande har kvar några av sina ursprungliga släta höljesstenar på toppen.
Den minsta pyramiden i Giza är Menkaurepyramiden, byggd för kung Menkaure, Khufus sonson. Den är cirka 65 meter hög, mycket mindre än pyramiderna i Khufu och Khafre, men unik eftersom dess nedre del byggdes av röd granit, vilket ger den ett distinkt utseende. We had an amazing experience visiting the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx. This was a super experience! Our driver and our guide were excellent. Our guide Ahmed was so fun, creative with pictures and had a great sense of humor. His knowledge of Egypt and the Pyramids and Sphinx made this an experience to remember. Ibrahim his driver was excellent in picking us up and getting us to the Pyramids and back to the hotel. My wife and I would recommend using Ahmed & Ibrahim again the next time we come to Egypt.
