It was great ! We had the opportunity to climb a mountain and do some site seeing, we went through a risk assessment and made sure it was safe, alll in all, was very good.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It was a pleasure meeting you and getting out in the backcountry for the day. Hope to see you again, maybe in the winter. We can get up higher in the mountains next time and show you the great skiing locations. Take care and all the best.
Would definitely recommend Chris as a tour guide for hiking in Sapporo. He led my family (myself, husband and 2 kids under 10) on a fantastic hike up the Soranuma dake trail up to the Bankei hut and lake. He was knowledgeable, friendly , good with the kids and made us all feel very safe. I don’t often write reviews but felt compelled to write this one as he was so good!
Thank you for your awesome support! It was a great day for me meeting you all and seeing the boys enjoying the trails and outdoors. I hope you continue to have a wonderful holiday and safe travels. Thanks again!
Chris is a native English speaker with 10 years of experience living in and hiking in Hokkaido. We enjoyed a moderate hike through a national park on a beautiful sunny day. Chris shared information on native flora and fauna. Much recommended!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback. Great to spend the day with you yesterday. Perfect weather and good conversation on the trail always makes for a good time. Hope to see you again here in Hokkaido!
Comfort and Safety paramount in hiking/climbing and Chris ensured that I enjoyed the trip! Chris briefed me perfectly on safety and customer expectations vs customer experience! The experience was beyond my expectations! I will come back to hike other trails with Chris! Bravo and take the plunge, it’s worth it!
It was an absolute pleasure meeting you and getting the chance to share the day and having conversations about the world. I look forward to seeing you again and experiencing some more trails and nature walks further afield in the Hokkaido wilderness! All the best.
Beautiful hike. Chris is very knowledgeable about the area. Relaxing onsen after the hike. We had a wonderful time.
Thank you so much for the great review. It was a great time hanging out with you guys. All the best.
Chris who organised the trip was a good guide. We had a nice walk in the forest in the mountain, had some great views and finished with a pleasent bath in a local onsen.

Chris was super professional. He was very knowledgable about the flora and fauna and well prepared for any environmental uncertainties (weather/wild animals). He was also great to chat with and has plenty of interesting stories from his time in Japan. Word of advice: Make sure to dress appropriately for the experience. I highly recommend boots for hiking and a full change of clothes afterwards too if you go to the onsen.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It was a pleasure meeting you and getting out in the backcountry for the day. Hope to see you again, maybe in the winter, and we can explore those routes we were talking about. Take care and all the best.
Chris is a fantastic tour guide, with great local knowledge of the area while also letting the wonderful nature surrounding you speak for itself. I would wholeheartedly recommend this for anyone that wishes to see the best parts of the Hokkaido back-country!
Thanks for your awesome review! It was a pleasure getting out there with you and I hope you enjoy the rest of your journey through Japan. You’re always welcome to join us again mate.
Chris took me on an out of the way hike up a nice ridge to a vantage point overlooking an old caldera. Would have never found this one on my own. He then brought me to an onsen that was equally nice, not overly crowded even though it was a weekend, and plenty of locals enjoying themselves (i.e. not a tourist trap).
It was a pleasure meeting you and showing you out and about around Minami-ku Sapporo. I’m stoked that you enjoyed the day and hope to meet you again. All the best for your holiday through Japan.
I opted for this tour on my last day in Sapporo, and am so glad I did not miss it!! What a breathtaking experience to hike all the way along the ridge of the mountain! When we finally reached the summit, it felt like I could touch the hand of God! On the way down the mountain, we stopped for a while to have a delicious, hearty lunch (a la Chris) and continued further on our journey afterwards. After the hike, we stopped by the oden (natural hot water pools) - a perfect way to end a superb day! Chris is a great tour guide and is very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this trip!!
Thank you for sharing your experience with your review. I’m so glad you got to enjoy and experience the route that we traveled. It was a pleasure to show you the backcountry trail and the views from the summit.
