Goff's Caye Beach Och Snorkling

We enjoyed our day at Goff’s Caye, our guide and the captain were very good and very accommodating. The female supervisor and the female accompanying our group not so much so! We had to wait for over an hour in stifling heat with no facilities on the dock, we drank all our water and we asked if we could purchase more, we were told no (even though it states water is included). We were given no information why we had to wait, the organisation is terrible! In the end my daughter asked when we were going as we were sat in the heat with no hydration and my grandaughter had a heart condition. They reluctantly agreed for the trip to go ahead. We loved our time on the island and the snorkelling guide was brilliant. Our group were all ready to go back, we were just sat around waiting. When we approached the female employee to ask when we were going back she rudely announced you moaned because you wanted to get here now you are moaning because you want to go back! At the time she was sat there eating her free lunch and drinking whilst the whole party were there waiting to go back. She was extremely rude. What her role was I don’t know, she accompanied our group but sat in the shelter the whole time. On the return trip she didn’t interact with the guests, I fact she fell asleep! We enjoyed our time at Goffs Caye and are grateful for the interaction from the guide and the captain, but it was tainted because of the actions of the female staff.

Know the time difference if you're cruise stays on ship time versus local time. This is critical to avoid long and confusing wait times at the port. The boat to leave for Goffs Caye leaves around 9 am local time. Belize has no cruise port so you have to tender in to the port. Viator tells you to take the earliest tender possible and that you have 1 hour to get there. Our ship first tender was at 8am ship time but it was really 6 am local time. When we arrived at port, no one was at the port from Splash tours yet. When the guy showed up he had no idea the ship came in that early. Was this fault but I blame local management for not knowing these details. We waited 2.5 hours with so much confusion on where to go and who to go with it was very disappointing and frustrating. There were other people with us who had different trips that either got canceled or moved to another trip because they didn’t have enough time to do it. Our crew was great and it wasn’t their fault. I completely blame the management for the lack of communication. They put their employees in a terrible situation. With no cruise port in believe I would stay away from excursions off ship. My opinion only so go at your own risk. Goffs Caye looks like it would be a great trip if we got our full time there with no issues wasting 2.5 hours sitting at the port and then dock to get on the boat.

The water was amazing, the snorkeling wonderful but be prepared to wait a long time at the meeting place. We were instructed to be on the first tender leaving the ship, and despite doing so, we waited over an hour to depart for the cay. The lady who checked us in was extremely rude and her poor attitude continued for the rest of the day. Jamal, the young man who escorted the snorkeling was friendly and helpful. Towards the end of the day we decided as a group to leave a little early mainly because there was a two year old with one of the families, she was getting uncomfortably hot and they had run out of water. Finally the only thing available to sit on was picnic tables, no loung chairs. Overall the excursion was not worth the long wait.

The island was beautiful and two of the three guides were very nice and informative but I’m giving it three stars because the female staff was terrible. She came off very rude, like she didn’t want to be there and I honestly don’t know why she was. She did absolutely nothing and had a terrible attitude. The company should remove her to prevent more low ratings.

Exciting boat ride to a secluded, gorgeous island. Wear sandals and sunscreen. Loved the natural aspect of this; didn’t feel overly “touristy”.

High winds & rough seas turned this into a rough boat ride & minimized snorkel trip for the same price & same length of time.

Trip was cancelled due to not enough people going. But we're offered a full refund or a snorkeling trip to Caulker Caye. We took the snorkeling. Had a blast, at the reef and after went to another spot and swam with sharks and manta rays. Staff at Spash Wave tours is well trained and a lot of fun. There was a guy struggling in the water and was gonna give up but they helped him along and you could see he had a lot of fun. After the swimming with sharks we went to Caulker Caye had a bite to eat and before heading back, stopped to feed so fish. We stayed at the Ramada so they pick us up and gave us a ride back to the hotel. Thanks so much.

2nd time we booked and 2nd time it was cancelled. Now keep an open mind and they offered a refund or the snorkeling trip to Caulker Caye. We asked if we could just hang on the island. They accommodated. We had a blast. The boat captain and staff are so friendly and helpful. We had about 3.5 hrs on the island. And one of the snorkeling instructors told us to go to Iguana Reef. It was a free beach. And you can get snacks and drinks. We swam sat on the beach and latter got something to eat before meeting back with the group and rode back to Belize City. We stayed at the Ramada so they even picked us up in the morning and dropped us back at the hotel. We would definitely do this again. And I think if you keep an open mind to the fact, if there is not enough people to go to Goffs Caye that Spash Wave Tours will work with you and make your day enjoyable. Booked this on a whim and so glad we did. The boat ride there and back was beautiful but can't compare to the island! Gorgeous clear water and white sand. The crew took great care of us. We went snorkeling from the shore because of water/wind conditions but Jamal made sure we got a fantastic experience. We even got to see a manatee while in the water! 😍 The island is well kept and clean. Lots of locals out the day we went and everyone was great. We would absolutely do this again.

I think we just purchased the wrong snorkel package. We follow the directions to be on the first tender off the ship and sat at their dock in the sun for over an hour waiting for a boat to pick us up. This was really frustrating because there were only eight total people in our tour and they were all there on time. Two large groups of snorkelers with different colored wristbands, and several other tours left before us. When our boat finally arrived we took a 30 minute motor boat ride out to a tiny little Island. When we finally got to the island we we're told we had less than 2 hours before we would have to leave. I had to ask if there was snorkel equipment or drinking water, which was in a plastic pouch, hard to open and tasted like plastic. They had a bathroom, but no running water even to wash hands, but what can you expect from a little uninhabited islands? If you like the idea of going to a tiny island in the middle of nowhere to just sit in the sand or look for big conch shells, then this would be a good tour for you. They have three dogs that live on the island that are very friendly, but you have to watch your step for poop. It might be a good place for kids who have never snorkeled before, but I personally didn't think there was much to see. The water is beautiful and picturesque and on one side there was an area to swim. They had grilled fish or chicken for purchase, but did not take credit cards. We were only allowed to snorkel on the sandy turquoise areas, not by the reefs where the fish were. Another company had a snorkel group that swam to the island from their boat and they swam all over in the reefs and saw cool things, I heard even a manatee! That company, Eco tours, appear to be cooking food for their own group and also allowed people to buy food that was for sale on the island with a credit card and pay back at their dock.
