Great tour. Guide was very knowledgeable. The practice of making us put in a minimum of 100 characters is a load of crap.
Visiting the turf houses and seeing firsthand how Icelanders lived was a very humbling experience. It gave us a real appreciation for the history, resilience, and way of life of the Icelandic people. The waterfalls were absolutely breathtaking—at times, they almost didn't look real. The sheer power and beauty of the falls were mesmerizing, and standing there taking it all in was something we will never forget. Ending the day at the Forest Lagoon was the perfect way to finish an incredible tour. After a full day of sightseeing, there is nothing quite like relaxing in a 94-degree geothermal lagoon surrounded by the beauty of Iceland. Our tour guide and driver were both extremely knowledgeable and flexible throughout the day. They even adjusted the itinerary and jumped ahead to one of our stops to avoid a crowd that was beginning to build at the falls. That kind of local knowledge and attention to the group's experience made a big difference. From the history of the turf houses to the incredible waterfalls and finally relaxing at the Forest Lagoon, this was a wonderful day and another unforgettable Icelandic experience.
Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review! We’re delighted you enjoyed the turf houses, breathtaking Goðafoss, and the relaxing Forest Lagoon. We’re especially glad our guide and driver could make the day even more enjoyable by adapting the itinerary. It was a pleasure having you with us!
We had an unusual sunny day but windy. The tour hit all the hot spots around the Golden Circle. The waterfall was worth every cent, although you do have 114 steps to get there. Going down was easy but pace yourself going up if you are elderly.
This tour was fantastic! Our guide was so knowledgable and kept it fun for us. It was her birthday, and she even brought cake to share with us! She was so informative, so personable, and the tour was absolutely fantastic. Highlight of our time in Iceland!
Thank you so much for your wonderful 5 star review! We are touched to read this was a highlight of your time in Iceland. We are especially glad you enjoyed the day with Ása. She is amazing and she went the extra mile bringing cake to share with you!
To start with the locations are amazing. The turf house village is interesting (the little shop sells some truly handmade gifts - the first / best we’d seen in a week in Iceland). The waterfall is stunning and the lagoon was much needed and relaxing. However, the transport was shockingly awful. The coach should not have been on the road. The outside was rusting and had obviously had a lot of damage. There was no suspension at the back of the coach, so we literally felt every bump in the road (and there was a lot of driving!). The microphone only worked some of the time, so half of the coach couldn’t hear the commentary as the poor girl had to shout from the front. It was a warm day and there was no AirCon. We might have been able to cope with that, but for the first half of the journey the heating was on full (+1 hour of driving) - those with window seats were nearly passing out as that was where the heating was. Driver eventually worked out how to switch it off, but it really did ruin what should have been a wonderful day. The poor guide tried her best under the circumstances, and huge respect to her for working so hard. Maybe we were just very unlucky, but from our experience I wouldn’t recommend.
Hi Thank you for your review. We want to excuse the vehicle we were forced to use for the tour, we had a vehicle failure the night before and as it was the one of the largest tour departure in Iceland (the solar eclipse was day after). We basically had the option of using this absolute last resort vehicle or cancelling the tour. And we did not want to cancel the tour. And yes, you were a bit unlucky because normally we run the tours in much better vehicles. We want to reach out privately and offer you a partial refund for putting you on the Last Resort Sauna Bus. And let you know that we will never use it again. Best regards Baldvin
This excursion is worth doing! The waterfall breathtaking! Enough time to enjoy the beauty. The forest lagoon so relaxing! Enough time to really relax. Possibly too relaxed if there is such a thing!😊 Our guide Miguel was the best. He shared info about Iceland that was so informative and had a pleasant voice.
Excellent tour including beautiful scenery, history and thermal pools. Well organised by Saga Travel, we were met at port by our wonderful guide Fonn, and had enjoyable and informative bus ride through the countryside to the fascinating turf houses with their rooms set up to show how life was in the past. Then off to the most amazing Godafoss waterfall. Plenty of time to view, and then grab a quick free coffee and pastry with a voucher from our guide. Then the most relaxing and fabulous time in the thermal pools, enjoying a drink of sparkling wine surrounded by forest trees with views over to the mountains- sublime! This venue has been beautifully planned so that one doesn't feel crowded, with lots of little spots to relax in and benches in the pools to rest your drinks. Towel and locker provided, don't worry about having to shower naked before you get in the pools- all shapes and sizes and everyone just looking forward to the wonderful hot pools. My skin felt fantastic afterwards! An amazing day in Iceland! So glad we booked this tour with Saga. Back to the ship in plenty of time too. Thanks Fonn.
This was a wonderful tour. Booked on line..easy and helpful!..had to adjust and found that simple. Ava, was one of the best guides I have ever had around the world! Clear, interesting and always ready to answer questions.
Val was an amazing guide. We had the best weather. Considering it was an 11 hr tour, it did not feel so long as we had so many breaks. Of course the stop at the blue lagoon at the end was totally perfect. About the Only Improvement I would make is to add alcoholic drinks and robes to the “adventure”. The stop to see horses was not on the program and was perfect.
This was a great small tour with a wonderful guide. Half the price of the same tour on the ship and with a guarantee to get you back to the ship on time. Also no big groups!
