En givande halvdagstur i vackra landskap, charmiga småstäder och historiska Stirling. En 8 timmars tur som ger dig gott om tid utomhus i skotsk luft. Denna kompakta tur som reser genom området norr om Glasgow besöker Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Dumbarton Castle och Luss on Loch Lomond. Turen tillbringar totalt 5 timmar 50 minuter vid stopp, med totalt 2 timmar 10 minuters körning.

Lämna Glasgow och gå västerut mot Loch Lomond, det första stoppet på vår tur är Dumbarton Castle som har den äldsta registrerade historien av någon skotsk fästning, som går tillbaka till 400-talet när Saint Patrick skickade ett brev till King Ceretic, det var det första skriftliga brevet om en bosättning där. Sedan dess har Viking Kings, William Wallace, Mary Queen of Scots och Queen Elizabeth 2 varit här.
När du lämnar Dumbarton är det en kort bilresa till din första vy av "The Bonnie, Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond". Dessa ord är från Scottish Folk-låten ”You take the High Road and I’ll take the Low Road”. Loch Lomond har den största ytan av någon sjö på det brittiska fastlandet, den är över 23 miles lång. Bara 10 minuter senare stannar vi vid Luss, en av Skottlands mest populära byar att besöka, gå förbi den vackra sandstenen och skifferstugor till piren för underbar utsikt upp och ner Loch Lomond och över sjön till bergen. Från piren är det en mycket kort promenad till den stämningsfulla kyrkkyrkogården som har gravar från 600 AD / 700AD med en Viking hogback gravsten också.
Vår väg till Stirling från Loch Lomond är särskilt naturskön med vackra byar, storslagna vyer och ett valfritt stopp vid Glengoyne Distillery, tillgänglig om du så väljer. Bara ett snabbt stopp för att se de pittoreska byggnaderna, butiken och gården full av whiskyfat.
När du närmar dig Stirling från väster, är slottet och Wallace Monument synliga på ganska långt avstånd. Stirling Castle är ett av de största och viktigaste slotten i Skottland, historiskt och arkitektoniskt. Slottet ligger högt uppe på en vulkanisk klippa och vaktar floden Forths lägsta övergångsställe. Det finns mycket att upptäcka och njuta av i slottet.
William Wallace-monumentet Detta ikoniska monument ligger bara 8 minuters bilresa från slottet och är 120 meter högt. Monumentet ligger på toppen av Abbey Craig-kullen ovanför fälten, där Wallace 1297 ledde sina trupper till seger vid slaget vid Stirling Bridge. Det finns 276 trappsteg till toppen. En kort bilresa från Wallace Monument tar oss till Stirling Bridge. Den nuvarande Stirling Bridge byggdes på 1400-talet och ersatte en rad timmerbroar. 1297 besegrade William Wallace Edvard 1:s styrkor i slaget vid Stirling Bridge. Idag är bron en av de bästa medeltida murade bågbroarna i Skottland.
Ett besök i Bannockburn, där kung Robert Bruce och hans armé 1314 vann det mest berömda slaget i skotsk historia. En kort promenad till statyn av kung Robert Bruce med Stirling Castle som bakgrund är värt besväret. Det finns även en besöksupplevelse med entréavgift. Din tur kan skräddarsys också.... du kanske har några platser du vill besöka och / eller saker du vill uppleva. Såsom Glasgow Cathedral / Necropolis / Glasgow University. Mike is a fabulous tour guide as well as a driver. Van was new comfortable and Mike himself was accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable and lots of fun. The tour was amazing, every stop full of historical information and terrific photo opportunities. My family of six enjoyed every minute of this tour. Hire Mike you will be very glad you did.

Mike was an awesome tour guide and driver. He knew all the best places to take us and had a wealth of interesting information. We all really enjoyed our tour with him. And to top it off, he made us dinner reservations and dropped us off right in front of the restaurant! He definitely went out of his way to make our day enjoyable. We highly recommend him!
Mike picked us up at our hotel and spent the full day taking us around the area. We made a stop at the Drymen bakery and deli it was excellent. The village of Luss was nice and we ended up having a great chat with the Minister at the Kirk. Mike was a great guide, knowledgeable and friendly.
Mike gave us a fabulous tour of Glasgow and the surrounding area. The Glasgow Cathedral was stunning, with beautiful stained glass and gothic architecture. The Necropolis had breathtaking views of the city. We saw Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, beautiful Loch Lomond and fabulous gardens. Mike is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and is quite personable. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with him and learned a lot about Scotland in the process. Best guide we've ever had.
5⭐️ Mike from Private Scottish Tours is a fantastic guide. He provides so much local and historical knowledge of not only Glasgow but of Scotland too. We travelled in his extremely comfortable van to amazing places and we felt like we stepped back in time. Breathtaking Cathedrals, Century old graves, spectacular Castles and stunning countryside. We also stopped for a bit to eat. We were lucky enough to have Mike all to ourselves which made the day very special. Highly recommend doing one of Mikes tours, you won’t be disappointed. The tour was simply amazing. Mike our tour guide reached out to us well ahead of our tour and asked if there was anything special we would like to include in our tour. I mentioned that I was interested in seeing the area near Loch Lomond of the Buchanan clan which is my mother’s family name. He was prepared! He took us to see so many areas and knew so much of the history. He also took us into the highlands and some of the most amazing views. Lunch at Loch Fyne, the fresh oysters and local Fyne Ale was the icing on the cake. I would absolutely recommend this tour.

Michael is an amazing tour-guide he provides a lot of great knowledge about Scotland, safe driver, very accommodating, patient, lovely personality. I can’t recommend him enough. The entire experience was wonderful! Our guide was extremely courteous and nice and very informative that made it a perfect trip to see Northern Scotland! I would love to come back and have book him for another excursion!!
Mike was an excellent tour guide. We were only in the area for the day, and he made sure we packed as much in as we could. Whether in city or countryside, Mike was able to provide history from Vikings to movie shoots. His local passion for this beautiful region really shows, and the hole in the wall fish and chips spot on the fjord was the best we had in the UK to top it off!
