I norrut på M1 från Dublin tar vi Morne-kustvägen. Till höger är Irländska havet och till vänster de magnifika Morne-bergen. Vårt första stopp är Carrick Fergus hamn. Tillsammans med sitt berömda slott är Carrick Fergus genomsyrad av historia. Ta en rundtur i slottet och hör till de många krig som det var inblandat i. 1778, under det amerikanska självständighetskriget, försökte kapten John Paul Jones och misslyckades med att fånga hamnen på grund av det stora försvaret av slottet. Hör hur han några dagar senare återvände i sitt skepp "Ranger" och utmanade det brittiska flaggskeppet "HMS Drake" för att öppna striden, en strid som kapten Jones vann med eftertryck. Från Carrickfergus går vi längre norrut till själva vägbanan, längs vägen ser du den dramatiska kustlinjen i östra Ulster som under åren eroderats av den obevekliga aggressionen i det irländska havet.
När du når Causeway (The 8th Wonder of the World) kommer du att förundras över naturens underverk. Se de perfektformade sexkantiga stenpelarna stiga sida vid sida till en höjd av 40 fot, se de fantastiska lavaklipporna stiga dramatiskt från havet. Hör historierna om jättarna Fionn McCool från Irland och Benandonner i Skottland och deras många engagemang och hur de använde gångvägen som springbräda för att slåss med varandra.
(The Bushmills Distillery är tillfälligt stängt till slutet av 2021) I den lilla byn Bushmills, som ligger vid flodens strand, hittar du det äldsta fungerande destilleriet i Irland. En plats där familj och vänner har arbetat i generationer, i en liten nordirländsk by som i över 400 år har hållit fast vid filosofin att handgjorda små partier är sättet att producera irländsk whisky med vacker smak.
Den ikoniska ruinen av Dunluce Castle vittnar om en lång och tumult historia. Först byggd på de dramatiska kustklipporna i norra län Antrim av familjen MacQuillan runt 1500, var det tidigaste skrivet av slottet 1513.
Carrick-a-Rede Island är anslutet till klipporna med en rep över Atlanten. Här finns en enda byggnad - en fiskarstuga. Hängbron nästan 30 m över havet höjdes upp, och repbryggan uppfördes först av laxfiskaren för 350 år sedan.
På vägen tillbaka till Dublin kommer vi att köra med det mest fotograferade läget i Nordirland - The Dark Hedges. Till och med det oerhört populära Game of Thrones har dykt upp till Dark Hedges för att filma en scen på denna hemskt vackra väg ...

Tour guide Liam was good. Had issues with headset for the first half of drive so those of us in the back of the van heard nothing. Have never been on a private tour that didn't prebuy tickets or at least tell you they weren't included and what stops needed tickets. Luckily it was low season so we were able to get in. Would have not been a good trip if we didn't have tickets. The sights were beautiful.

We had a fantastic day with Keiron as our driver. He picked us up in our hotel at 7 am and took us everywhere we wanted to go. First stop was the Giants Causeway - it was amazing beyond our expectations and we ended up spending almost two hours there, which threw off the rest of our schedule a bit. But the whole reason we decided to hire a private driver was so we would have flexibility to adjust to our interests and needs. Next, Keiron recommended a hotel/pub for lunch. We had a tasty meal there. Our next stop was to be the rope bridge at Carrick-a-Rede, but we were disappointed to find that tickets were sold out. We were able to hike down the path to the start of the bridge and the views were lovely, but it was still a bummer to not be able to actually walk on it. I recalled then that I had tried to reserve tickets in advance and had asked the vendor twice for an estimated itinerary for the day, but he never responded. The first time he said “you can talk to your driver about your schedule when he picks you up.” Then when I asked again a second time, he just never responded. Given how much I was juggling while planning a three-week trip with lots of moving parts, this fell between the cracks. But I would recommend to other travelers that you insist on arranging your itinerary in advance so you can buy your tickets to Carrick-a-Rede. My kids were disappointed to have come all that way and to not be able to cross it. After that we made brief stops at Dunluce and Bushmills Distillery - no time for a tour, just a stop to buy some whiskey. At our request we then drove through Belfast and Kristin pointed out some interesting sites before we hit the road back to Dublin. All in all it was a great day and we would highly recommend using this service. We were very pleased with the convenience and comfort, and Keiron was a great driver full of interesting information and stories.

Our driver Kieran was very professional and met all of our needs. There were 6 family members in our party and we were picked up in a new Mercedes van. The Causeway and Rope Bridge were very worthwhile. Kieran also took us into to Belfast and to see Dunluce Castle. We did not feel rushed at any of the stops. It was a very enjoyable trip.

William Schindler was our guide for the day . He was super professional . Dressed very nice . Clean car with water . He opened the door for us at each stop .
