Ingenstans i Slovenien finns det så många (kvarstår av) slott och herrgårdar som finns i Savinjas flodbassäng. Skälen till detta finns i flera fakta. För det första är det viktigt att betona att det var upp till 1140 i Savinjas centrum, att mycket egendom erhölls av Kärnten Krško biskopar och sist men inte minst att många ädla familjer bosatte sig i detta område. Bland dem var de viktigaste säkert de mäktiga räkningarna och prinsarna i Celje.

Kastelen är en återspegling av en tid, men människorna i olika perioder accepterade och upplevde dem ganska annorlunda, precis som livet får nya former hela tiden. Slott och herrgårdar har, med deras extraordinära förflutna och nuvarande, alltid plågad mänsklig fantasi. Olika historier rör sig om slott, framför allt om deras invånare, som senare ändrades av folket och har blivit berättade för sina efterkommande fram till idag. Och på grund av alla de berättelser och legender om slott och deras invånare som hölls av folkraditionen, kan vi fortfarande (magiskt) återuppleva förflutna av de mestadels slottsruinerna, som fortfarande vågigt och stolt står på klipporna och påminner oss om deras tidigare ära. Således berättade många berättelser och legender om Gamla slottet Celje, Nedre slottet, räkningarna och prinsarna av Celje och folk från Teharje. A beautifully located castle with some excellent architectural ( modern) interpretations. Atmospheric & informative. Nice cafe.
A very beautiful day trip with your family, small kids or big it doesn't matter. Especially a great experience in the old print factory.

Well preserved medieval castle. Very interesting visit and spectacular views from the viewpoint and the tower. You can see all of Celje and its surroundings. It is worth the visit and the 7 euros it costs to enter.
Beautifully preserved castle on top of a mountain. Very nice views. On some days there are activities in the castle, but this was not during our visit.
It’s a nice option after the hike but you can also go by car, of course. The castle is well maintained and organised. The staff at the reception is kind and attentive. Different places and rooms with great views from the town of Celje. Some information about the history of the village and a nice cafeteria for an espresso.
Beautiful old castle with a lot of history. It used to belong to a powerful house of Grofje Celjski and it shows. It is placed above old city center of Celje which offers scenic views of Celje and its sourroundings. A must visit if you are around!
Was visiting this castle with my Erasmus programme. We had a lovely visit and guide was very good at explaining and answering the questions. However, tour was shorter than I expected.
Visited the Castle on a gorgeous sunny day and it was just wonderful You get a great feeling of medieval times and the walk ways between some of the buildings make you feel like you are on the set of a Game of Thrones episode Fabulous views from the top of the tower and really good information about the castle Nice little cafe at the entrance which is nice at the end, especially if the the weather was hot, like on our visit Well worth the €15 for a family of 4 !
Nice and beautiful castle with a cozy bar with small playground on. Beautiful view of the city. Not a super long visit, but for what you pay there definitely worth stopping.
