Galle One Day Tour

We had a fantastic trip thanks to our driver Podi. He was kind, friendly and patient. Also, a very good and safe driver. He guaranteed our safety and well-being, crossing busy roads with us and always having a supply of water available in the car. Even during long drives, he delighted us with his stories and cultural insights about Sri Lanka, pointing out several sites of interest, making our experience even richer. We also enjoyed the many activities of different kinds organized for us. They are all at a very pleasant pace and not overly strenuous or exhausting. We could still enjoy a quiet breakfast without feeling rushed. There was a good balance between walking and relaxing. The external guides were also very competent and knowledgeable. Even the accommodations had been carefully designed, each with its own atmosphere, from the cheapest to the most luxurious, and we enjoyed discovering every "surprise". I would definitely recommend Drivers in Sri Lanka to anyone who wants to visit this beautiful country in a simple and stress-free way.

tour in sri lanka we had a great time during our holidays. visited many ancient cities and places. our driver (guide) Saman did very well and explained many things about Sri Lanka. we travelled with a luxury van with more comfortable air conditioning. we also did animal safaris. there were also many elephants. all beach hotels. very good hotels and delicious food. we are very satisfied with "DRIVERS IN SRILANKA". thank you NAMAL and very friendly driver SAMAN. recommend this agency to all Europeans. Perfect organization for a day trip from Colombo to virgin white tea plantation, Galle Fort, River boat tour! Very Safe driver. Highly recommended

We visited Sri Lanka in late November 2019. We booked Drivers in Sri Lanka for a one-day trip from Columbo to Galle. Our driver, Namal, was terrific. He was knowledgeable and showed us lots of things that were very interesting that I am sure we wouldn’t have seen with most tours. The previous day we had a one-day tour in Hambantota with another driver from the same company that was also good. I would definitely use Drivers in Sri Lanka again.

I had an extremely enjoyable, event-packed day on this tour and the hosts were very flexible - fitting in a trip to a tea estate and getting me back in time for an early finish, as requested. For the number of places you see - and I had limited opportunity on my trip to Sri Lanka for sightseeing - it is great value. The boat trip (for an additional fee) was a particular highlight and the tour guide was quick to point out notable wildlife – monkeys, water monitors, kingfishers – as well as a fish foot massage opportunity! I would recommend.

We had the pleasure of doing a day trip to Galle from Colombo with Mr Sisira from Drivers in Sri Lanka with Senaka. We have much praise for our driver who was very well presented, well spoken with excellent English. He was a great tour guide, very informative, also an excellent and safe driver. Our car was very comfortable with good air conditioning. Mr Sisira shared much information all the way to and from Galle and around Galle. The restaurant we had lunch was cool and comfortable with cold drinks which was wonderful on such a hot day. Having seen most of the famous sights some years ago I had not vis ted Galle so decided to try a tour which also included lunch, a visit to a turtle hatchery, a river trip and a visit to a moonstone mine with opportunity to buy jewellery. We visited the hatchery first where we were able to see how the eggs were buried in sand and each mound marked to state the number of days before hatching. The day old babies were tiny and a high number died before they were large enough to be freed into the sea. The eggs were about the size of ping pong balls and we saw the babies at various sizes and also larger ones which for health reasons could not survive in the sea and were kept in a protected situation. The hatchery ensures that many more survive than would otherwise be the case. On to Galle which was badly damaged during the Tsunami fourteen years ago. The remains of the old fort is worth a visit and a walk round the old streets discovered some interesting museums and shops. The traffic there is very heavy and difficult to drive around. There is still evidence of the damage inflicted by the Tsunami as is evident up the whole coastline - whole families were wiped out and homes destroyed and with much poverty in the country recovery is slow. Our lunch was a buffet one and to be honest , not very inspired and rather cold! Next we visited a moonstone mine which was very interesting as apart from the mine, which was pretty basic one allowing for two men to descend at a time in shifts ( very hot and airless and quite dangerous) we saw how the stones were panned like gold to separate the grades (some are completely white while some have a blue sheen), then saw how they were sorted, cut, polished and set in silver. Afterwards we were taken to a shop where some beautiful samples of gems of all colours and value were on sale for those with large pockets. Sri Lanka is renowned for the quality of its gems particularly sapphires. At Balapitiya a very enjoyable trip on the Madhu River was our last stop before returning to our hotel. it was about 45 minutes long and was scenic and relaxing. We stopped at a small island for a cup of cinnamon tea. At £60 a head it was fair value for a whole day out.
