We wanted a fun activity for my partner’s son and this was perfect! Learning how to make traditional Japanese sweets and sharing a matcha ceremony was a great way to spend a morning. Hana was an effective teacher and very welcoming, even offering some travel tips for enjoying the rest of our time in Tokyo.
Thank you so much for your heartwarming message. It truly made my day. As you mentioned when making your reservation, I could really tell how much your 13-year-old son loves cooking. He was incredibly skillful and a pleasure to teach! Thank you so much for visiting Japan, and I hope you and your family have a wonderful rest of your trip.
Great chance to learn and get creative! The host & instructor was wonderful- she led us through each step patiently and immediately jumped in to help whenever we struggled.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It truly means a lot to me. I'm so grateful that you chose to spend part of your valuable time in Japan by joining my lesson. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Hana
We had a wonderful time making sweets. Our teacher was friendly and helpful. She gave us a list of shops near by where we wanted to buy things. Her home is beautiful and welcoming.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! Your kind words truly encourage and motivate me. Thank you for coming to Japan—I really enjoyed meeting you and hope to see you again someday! Hana
Myself and my 2 children, (9) & (6), attended this amazing experience! Hana was very kind, gracious and patient while we learned how to create beautiful sweets. She thought of every detail and was hands on to assist when we needed it (which was frequently!) We all had so much fun and would highly recommend the experience to anyone looking to create a special treat memory with cultural tradition. In addition to the matcha, we were given treats from different prefectures, that Hana sources specifically for guests. My son was obsessed with the kohakutou (crystal candy), she gifted us with a package of it on our departure! (My son has a peanut allergy and Hana was very accommodating keeping that in mind.)
Thank you so much for bringing your lovely children yesterday. I was deeply impressed by how curious they both were, staying focused and completing their work until the very end. Perhaps it is because they've had so many great experiences from a young age, such as attending international summer schools, but they are incredibly confident and mature! Please enjoy the rest of your stay in Japan. Also, thank you so much for the wonderful review! Hana
This was amazing and my family of 4 including 2 kids 10 and 12 enjoyed all of it. Well organized and the host was exceptionally helpful. Came out with some wonderful desserts. Would highly recommend!
Thank you so much for your warm review. Your kind words mean a lot to me. I had such a wonderful time with your two adorable children. It made me so happy that they said "Arigato" to me in Japanese !! Hana
Hana was the perfect hostess, we had the workshop in her home which was really beautiful. She had everything prepared for the workshop which was a lot of fun to do
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. You are such an experienced traveler! I was impressed by how well you understood Japanese culture and customs, and you mastered the art of making nerikiri surprisingly quickly. It was a truly meaningful and enjoyable time for me. Thank you very much! Hana
Hana was amazing and made the activity. On top of being a former University level history professor, she was great with my 10 and 12 yr old- so kind and the class itself was a lot of fun and relaxing. It also brought us to a perfect part of town in Shibuya/Harajuku and Hana gave us a ton of insider recommendations on what else to do while in Tokyo. If I had to do it all again, I would've had our activity with her first ;) highly recommend.
Thank you very much for yesterday. It was so lovely to see your adorable children stay focused and enjoy making wagashi until the very end. Traveling with children can be challenging for moms, but I'm sure this trip will become a wonderful memory and valuable experience for them. You're heading home tomorrow! Thank you for visiting Japan, and I hope you had a fantastic time here. Have a safe trip home! Hana
What a fun experience! We had a group of three, so each picked a design that all three copied and the fourth was whatever we wanted to individually create. Our gracious host gave us clear instructions and we each had all the tools we would need at our individual stations at the large table we shared. It is kind of like playing with edible play-doh. Then we had a beautiful matcha experience with time to enjoy sweets from different regions of Japan. It’s always memorable to do hands on arventures. I highly endorse this wagashi class, as I really liked the mixture of designs. Some classic and some contemporary. Thanks again to our delightful instructor!
Thank you so much for your heartwarming review. It truly encourages me, and reading your review made me very happy. Thank you again. I also had a wonderful time spending those 90 minutes with you. The wagashi your husband made was very unique and interesting! Thank you so much Hana
We booked this experience for our two daughters (12yo and 14yo). They had nothing but compliments and they said it was one of their favorites experiences in Tokyo. Their instructor was very friendly and kind and gave great and easy instructions on making the sweets. We highly recommend this class.
Thank you so much. I had such a lovely time talking a lot with your very sweet daughters—it was truly enjoyable. They are both very skillful and picked up how to make nerikiri so quickly. I imagine you have already arrived back in the U.S. by now. It must be about time to enjoy American food again! I was also very impressed that they can speak Japanese and have such a good understanding of Japanese culture. Thank you very much for bringing your wonderful daughters to my place! Hana
We had a wonderful time making mochi and drinking matcha with Hana. She made it easy and fun, not to mention tasty!
Thank you so much for your kind comment. It is my very first review of 2026, and it truly made me very happy. Thank you for visiting Japan and for coming to my class. I wish you a wonderful year ahead. Hana
