Njut av denna en timmes kryssning till ön Nisyros i Dodekanesos och gå in i vulkanens krater där du kan känna lavan mullra under dina fötter. En av de mest intressanta öarna i Dodekanesos väntar dig - Nisyros, vulkanön.

Lämna Kardamenas hamn, passera genom ön Giali och anländ till Nisyros efter en timmes kryssning där en buss väntar på din ankomst för att ta dig till vulkankratern.
Vulkanen på ön Nisyros är den yngsta i Grekland. Det är en aktiv vulkan liksom de vid Methana, på Milos Island och på Santorini Island. Det mesta av Nisyros är bergigt, vulkaniskt och mycket bördigt. Ön består av vulkaniska stenformationer som bildades av tidigare vulkanisk aktivitet. De olika klippformationerna (t.ex. basalt) har använts som byggmaterial i olika byggnader som Palaiokastro och klocktornet i kyrkan Agios Ioannis Theologos som ligger nära Nikia. Ön har formats av lava. Stenarna är täckta av pyroklastiska avlagringar och vulkanisk lera. Två möjliga utbrott inträffade för flera årtusenden sedan, beräknat för cirka 25 000 år sedan. Vulkanens största krater, som heter Polivotis, har en diameter på 260m och 30m djup. Det finns ytterligare 5 yngre kratrar i regionen, varav den största är Stefanos med en diameter på 30 m och ett djup på 30 m. Dalen som omger vulkanen är 2 400 m lång och 950 m bred.
När du kommer tillbaka till Nisyros hamn har du möjlighet att besöka staden Mandraki. Efter en kort promenad genom de smala gatorna i blå- och vitmålade hus har du tid för lunch (ingår ej) eller lite shopping eller till och med besöka det berömda klostret Panagia Spiliani innan du går ombord på båten klockan 16:00 för att återvända till Kos.

Mixed experience for me: Volcanoe was totally worth everything. Town was quaint. I would have preferred slightly more time at volcanoe at the expense of 3 hours in the little town. Guide Katarina was friendly and knowledgeable. very unpleasant for me was the pick up / transfer / ferry experience. First, hotel pick up was not at the hotel but at a main road, which was ca 15 mins walk. Ok in the morning, not nice in the hot afternoon sun with tired kids. Should be made clear prior to booking. Transfer to ferry: huge crowd being bellowed at. Boats seemed too full, people hardly found space. I did not feel safe. On way back, same experience. It night be efficient for provider but for me very offputting. Wanted to take another tour but will now rather hire car.
The one hour boat trip was lovely and Nisyros is a gorgeous little town-very picturesque with winding streets and blue and white houses. Well worth a visit. A little disappointed with the volcano-the drive there was very scenic but the crater was underwhelming.

Nisyros was really cute. The vulacano was cool but not too impressive. The tour was organized really well.
Interesting experience, Nisyros is very beautiful and Caldera vulcano is must see.
Lovely time, a must to do from Kos
The crater was awesome,,but the village of Mandraki was absolutely amazing. They gave us lots of time for lunch and to explore.
The trip was great. Super organized, there was plenty of time available both in the city and at the volcano, and Martha and Katharina did an absolutely fantastic job! Two super nice and funny people, very attentive to the needs of the guests. Very informative design. The city is breathtakingly beautiful! Absolutely recommendable, this trip!
Superb visit well organised and timed to perfection. Martha was a good guide the only problem on the coach up to the volcano the microphone was not clear and we missed a lot of her info about the island. The volcano was impressive even the pungent smell of hydrogen sulphide ( rotten eggs) There is a covered area to sit in the shade. The island of Nisyross is beautiful and the sail on the ferry over took one hour. We were given plenty of free time in the town of Mandraki to explore the narrow streets and visit the monastery of Panagia Spiliana. Plenty of places to eat and rest in the shade with a welcome drink. All together a great visit with excellent organisation.
