Probably one of the worse tours that I have had in the many years I have traveled. From the beginning our tour guide seemed irritated And seemed bothered, not sure why but I gave him the benefit of doubt. First of our guide Muhhamed Zayed didn’t want to change to take us Royal Mummies Hall instead of the market, we had contacted the company to make the change and the company by the way was very accommodating and communication was great. But our guide wanted argued about and we say it was no problem if he couldn’t, but the company had said it was ok, but we could do the market again of there was an issue. The biggest issue comes when se arrive to the mosque and he went to pay the entrance ticket, he approached me and said that he had an issues with his card and if we could pay and then he would pay us at the end and I told him that we couldn’t he got mad, I said no because I had read that this happen to someone else in the reviews and like magic later on he got the tickets, he seemed bothered the entire tour and had a bad taste of Egypt and I didn’t enjoy the tour at all, the company should really make sure that they hire qualified guides that actually want to do the job, it was clear he didn’t want to be there. Also our tour was requested in English and there was some lack of language there which it usually is where we go to other countries, but it was as manly his rude attitude the set up the unpleasant environment.
While the itinerary itself is great, I’ve actually enjoyed this exact tour about 4 years ago. But this experience was ruined by our guide, Mirna. Having encountered over 20 guides previously, I can honestly say she was the least professional. Here is why... To begin with, she was 40 minutes late for a 7:00 AM start. Worse, she seemed completely unaware of the itinerary, asking us just 10 minutes into the drive to show her our booking so she knew where we were going. Throughout the day, her historical knowledge was nonexistent; she spoke only in brief "headlines" and often left sentences unfinished. She made us pay for the parking fees at the Citadel. It wasn't much, but I'm not sure what the tour fees were paid for if they don't also cover parking. At the Al-Rifa'i Mosque, we didn't want to enter, it was enough to see it from the outside, but we still wanted to learn about the place, she ignored our request and instead pressured us to move on!! At the Khan el-Khalili, she didn’t tell us a single thing about the area other than, 'This is the Husayn Mosque, I'll be here at this cafe, take a tour and we will meet here in one hour'! Most concerning was her behavior. She was consistently disrespectful, responding to questions with sarcasm and even bullying my sister. She also encouraged aggressive street vendors, at one point even opening the car door for a seller we were trying to avoid. We were so upset by the end of the day that we couldn't wait to go home and didn't tip our driver appropriately, which I regret, as he was very nice and respectful. If you want to book this tour, I strongly recommend ensuring Merna is not assigned to your booking.
Very educational, rich beauty of the Mosques and churches, architectural differences. My guide was patient, intelligent of his history, answered all my questions.
We were superbly looked after by our guide. Friendly and accommodating he showed us Cairo and took into account our viewing requests. To get to know Cairo, we recommend booking the "Full-Day Tour of Coptic and Islamic Cairo" excursion.
The tour of the old part of Cairo was very good. Our guide Karim was very friendly and explained everything very well. I recommend taking the option with tickets and food to go worry-free. Plus the restaurant was super good
Beautiful day in private tour with a francophone guide. The explanations given were complete, the restaurant selected typical and good (buffet). Everything went very well.
Haitham Saeed was extraordinary! Thank you very much to him for everything he has made us discover, all the history he masters, and everything in French... Thank you for your generosity!
Very knowledgeable guide who speaks good German and is a retired professor. However, we needed less time than stated despite extensive viewing. Other sightseeing locations as part of the tour would be possible. Unfortunately, however, due to Ramadan, many things closed 2 hours earlier than usual, so we could not have visited many things until the stated end time.
Mohammed is friendly and knowledgeable and has a way of framing historical context. You’re in good hands with Mohammed. Be sure to bring some small Egyptian pounds (50s) for the toilet.
Great day out experience the cultural and spiritual places of the old city in Coptic Cairo. This was a private tour and my guide Heba Was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly and made the tour very interesting and also had all the answers for all my questions. I throughly enjoyed it and it’s definitely a must do if you want to know more about the holy sites in the city
