Bostadsplatsen vid Āraiši-sjön är en turistort med ursprungliga och rekonstruerade lämningar av lettisk förhistoria. Det är en unik nationellt viktig arkeologisk plats med rester av 800–1000-talets Latgalian befästa bosättning. Idag är sjöbostaden delvis rekonstruerad och besökare kan se ombyggda förhistoriska latgaliska träbyggnader. Under utgrävningarna upptäcktes rester av 151 träbyggnader, med 3700 artefakter och cirka hundra tusen fragment av keramik. Med hjälp av insamlade data, etnografiska paralleller och repliker av antika verktyg finns det idag 14 rekonstruerade byggnader från den första perioden av byggandet av den befästa bosättningen. Site är medlem i EXARC-organisationen för arkeologiska friluftsmuseer i hela Europa.

This was an amazing tour hosted by local Martins who was very knowledgeable and helpful. He provided a great insight into Latvian history. The tour is definitely a must do when staying in Riga. Martins was an 11 out of 10

We had a great day out. Our driver/guide Ivan’s spoke wonderful English and was very informative. He pointed things out and took us to four additional sites for a few minutes. We had just our group on the tour. Our only learning was we should have brought food as there was no lunch stop on the itinerary.

Amazing trip from start to finish. Our guide/driver Andis touched base with us the day before, confirming pick up. He turned up bang on time and ensured we were comfortable before setting off on an amazing day. Throughout the day Andis took account of my sister's mobility issues, parking as close as possible for drop offs and coming back to collect us. Clear instructions throughout, but no pressure. For lunch Andis suggested a fantastic restaurant which coul not be faulted. A knowledgeable and helpful guide, would happily use his services again in future.
