THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE A BAD REVIEW. JUST A CAUTIONARY STORY: I did not go on this tour. Despite having a ticket and a reservation ID, the tour guides from the Machu Picchu Tour Company told me they did not have my reservation and would not take me on the tour, so I did not go. I think a lack of communication between Viator and the tour company might have happened. Everyone else around me who was picked up from the tour seemed to get their tickets from Get Your Guide. And when I messaged the tour company in charge of my chosen excursion, they contacted me and said I was at fault for not confirming anything with Booking.com, even though I stated that I booked through Viator. It was ridiculous. I give three stars because the company booked me on a last-minute basic tour of Sacred Valley, but it was not what I paid for. NOTE: Yes, I recommend booking the tour itself, (but maybe not through Viator, after what happened to me)
Sensational walk! It's worth it! The guide Fred and the driver Hernán were great!
The tour was wonderful, the guide Fred of the agency Machu Pichu was exceptional. Driver Herman was very kind, giving in to the internet. Super recommend!
I booked this tour to visit the Sacred Valley. The day before, I specifically asked when I would be picked up at my hotel. I was told that I should be ready in the hotel lobby at 6:25 AM. I was already in the lobby at 6:20 AM and waited. When no one had picked me up by 7:00 AM, I contacted the agency via WhatsApp. After some time, I was told that the road to Ollantaytambo was closed and the tour would not take place. If I hadn't asked myself, I would probably still be waiting for information. I understand that the agency is not responsible for the road being closed and the tour not being able to take place. However, the agency could inform its customers properly and not just leave them waiting without information.
Hallo, guten Tag, lieber Freund.
Arnold was the best. He spoke very clear English and was truly one of the most up beat guides I have ever had. I felt so safe on this tour and the sites were so amazing.
If you’re looking for a quick experience to all these places. Then this is the trip for you. Beware you spend only 30 minutes at each site. I wish I had more clarity on this trip because I would have book a trip that included fewer sites but more information and a tour of the site. We got to Pisacq and were told one fact and then told to wander off in our own and meet back. That really wasn’t the tour for us.
I waited for an hour outside so cold no one show up to pick me up. I called no one pick up phone either.
The tour overall was very good except for when they add in extra stops that are just to try to make you spend money. When you’ve been out for 15 hours the last thing you want to visit is another jewelry store for them to try to hustle you.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable on this tour, and the driver was able to take us to all of the impressive Inca sites in a timely manner without rushing the tour group too much. The guide was also a good photographer. The buffet lunch was also good and had a wide range of options. Note: this is not the fault of this tour organizer, but I recommend bringing toilet paper, because the bathrooms at the Inca sites themselves did not have any available to visitors.
While the archaeological sites were interesting and worth seeing, we were disappointed with the tour guide. Much of the information seemed to be read directly from a book, and the overall experience lacked the depth and engagement we were hoping for. This tour is also very strict on timing, which makes for a long day, especially with the additional stops included alongside the Sacred Valley sites. Many of these extra stops felt more like sales presentations than cultural experiences. The guide strongly suggested that these were the best, and sometimes only, places to purchase certain items. As a result, I later realized I had significantly overpaid for items such as salt, chocolate, and baby alpaca textiles. The lunch was acceptable, but families with picky eaters may want to bring snacks to supplement the meal. Overall, the Sacred Valley is beautiful and worth visiting, but I would have preferred a tour that focused more on the history and culture and less on shopping opportunities.
