Meta di Sorrento är ett perfekt naturskönt stopp för att beundra Sorrentohalvöns skönhet. Från sin höjd på 111 meter över havet erbjuder den spektakulär utsikt över Capri, Sorrento och Amalfikusten, med glimtar som sträcker sig från det turkosa havet till de omgivande gröna kullarna. Ett kort men omissvärt fotostopp längs vägen till Sorrento.
Li Galli-öarna utgör en mycket liten skärgård mellan Capri och Positano, en av de mest suggestiva platserna inte bara i Kampanien utan i hela Medelhavet. Skärgården bildas av tre öar, Gallo Lungo, La Rotonda och La Castelluccia, och tillsammans bildar de ett extremt suggestivt skyddat marint område.
Positano är kanske en unik plats i världen! Det är en juvel av spontan arkitektur, som ligger på klippan med utsikt över havet. Kluster av färgglada hus, ibland med ett kubiskt utseende, är byggda på ofta mycket branta trappsteg, som går ner till stranden, förbundna med gränder och långa trappor.
Legenden säger att de mytomspunna sirenerna bodde i dess hav och frestade Ulysses med en melodiös sång. Och än idag pågår det havet - med blå och gröna reflektioner, i tusen olika nyanser enligt solens spel - kan man föreställa sig att sirenerna kommer fram ur vågorna - vackra och övertygande. Men kanske är Sorrento en siren som fängslar och förhäxar med dofterna av citron- och apelsinträd, med olivträd med mörka vridna stammar och silverblad som rör sig långsamt, med ett lätt ljud, i vinden som kommer från havet, med stenar födda från en vulkans avlägsna raseri.
Pompeji är en stad i Kampanien, belägen i Neapelbukten och på sluttningarna av vulkanen Vesuvius. Det är en stad med mycket gammalt ursprung: den föddes som en oskisk bosättning, beboddes senare av samniterna och erövrades sedan av romarna, från och med det första århundradet f.Kr. Stad begravd av Vesuvius utbrott. Idag är det känd som staden där det finns en av de viktigaste arkeologiska platserna i världen. Den romerska staden begravdes i själva verket av lava efter Vesuvius utbrott år 79 e.Kr. Lavan och askan har varit ett slags täcke som har gjort det möjligt för staden att upprätthålla sig själv genom århundradena och skyddas från dåligt väder; just därför har staden förblivit intakt och kan besökas idag. This was a lovely tour of Sorrento, Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. Paolo was our driver and was very professional and affable. He gave us time to allow us to explore the shops in Positano, but was also considerate that we needed to avoid spending too much time so that we did not miss out on seeing Pompeii. This was about an 8 hour excursion and we needed this time - Pompeii is an expansive site, it is important to give yourself time to see this adequately. An additional entrance fee to the archaeological site will need to be paid (about 20 Euros). We had the pleasure of been driven in a comfortable vehicle and a driver that is very knowledgeable of Naples. During the Pompeii tour we were given headphones to listen to an expert tour guide as we followed her through the labyrinth streets and corridors of this historical site. A splendid tour that has sparked our desire to revisit Naples, thanks to Paolo!
