Johannes dopkapellet i Pisa (italienska: Battistero di San Giovanni) är en romersk-katolsk kyrklig byggnad i Pisa, Italien. Bygget påbörjades 1152 för att ersätta ett äldre dopkapell, och när det stod klart 1363 blev det den andra byggnaden, i kronologisk ordning, på Piazza dei Miracoli. Byggnadens form, materialet som används, fördelningen av de inre utrymmena som ges av kolonnerna och utrymmet mellan de två kupolerna gör att dopkapellet skapar en otrolig effekt av akustisk resonans, mer känd som Echo. Ljudet sprider sig över hela rummet, som en kontinuerlig våg, stigande i tonalitet till den grad att det antyder närvaron av en änglakör. Varje halvtimme gör dopkapellet en liten demonstration för turister: effekten får man inte missa.

Basilikans exteriör har polykroma marmorpaneler i olika nyanser av grönt och rosa, kantad av vitt, och har en utarbetad gotisk 1800-talsfasad av Emilio De Fabris.
Baptisteri San Giovanni står framför katedralen och är stadens gamla religiösa och civila centrum, samt ett mästerverk i italiensk romansk. Det är en av de äldsta byggnaderna i staden: det går förmodligen tillbaka till 400-talet, och fick sitt nuvarande utseende på 1000-1200-talet. Med en åttakantig plan är den på utsidan täckt med vit och grön Pratomarmor med geometriska motiv och har ett åttasektionstak; utsmyckningen berikades på 1500-talet med statyer och basreliefer. De tre förgyllda bronsdörrarna är verk av Andrea Pisano (södra dörren, byggd omkring 1330), och Lorenzo Ghiberti (norr, 1402/25 och öster, 1425/52). Den östra dörren, med berättelser från Gamla Testamentet, öppnar mot katedralen och definierades av Michelangelo som Paradisets portar; alla dörrarna är kopior, originalen förvaras i Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.
Intill katedralen Santa Maria del Fiore ligger klocktornet designat av Giotto (besök utanför). Giottos klocktorn är katedralens majestätiska klocktorn och ett av den italienska gotikens mästerverk. Klocktornet har en kvadratisk bas på cirka 15 meter per sida med hörnförstärkningar som reser sig upp till den horisontella fribärande kronan som ligger på en höjd av 84,7 meter.
Piazza della Signoria har varit i centrum för Florens politiska liv sedan 1300-talet. Torget har sett viktiga historiska händelser och stora triumfer äger rum, som Medicis återkomst 1530. De berömda skulpturerna på Piazza della Signoria har referenser till de politiska händelserna i Florens. David (originalet ligger i Accademia Gallery) skapades av Michelangelo och placerades framför Palazzo Vecchio för att symbolisera den florentinska republikens makt i kontrast till Medicis tyranni. Hercules and Cacus (1534) av Bandinelli symboliserar istället familjens fysiska kraft.
Ponte Vecchio, byggd nära en korsning från romartiden, var fram till 1218 den enda bron som korsade Arno i Florens. Ovanför Ponte Vecchio kan du se en del av den vackra Vasari-korridoren. Denna korridor, byggd 1565 av Giorgio Vasari, passerar precis ovanför guldsmedsbutikerna som för närvarande står på varsin sida om bron. På uppdrag av Medici, tillät det dem att flytta från Palazzo Vecchio till Palazzo Pitti utan att behöva korsa Florens gator, i full säkerhet. Vid tiden för byggandet av korridoren samlades slaktarnas butiker på Ponte Vecchio, vars verksamhet troligen störde mediciernas passage, som 1593 lät flytta dem och ersätta dem med de mer "prydliga" guldsmedsbutikerna.

★★★★★ Absolutely the Highlight of Our Trip to Tuscany! I almost canceled this excursion because of the long drive from Rome, and I am so grateful that I didn’t. It ended up being our favorite tour of the entire trip! Our driver, Artur, was outstanding. The ride was smooth, comfortable, and safe, and with a rest stop halfway both to Tuscany and on the return trip, the drive was much easier than expected. Our tour leader, Nariman, made the hours fly by. He is incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating history, stories, and fun facts throughout the journey that kept everyone engaged. He also proudly called himself the “best photographer,” and he absolutely lived up to that title! He happily took countless photos for everyone throughout the day and made sure we all had wonderful memories to bring home. Pisa completely exceeded my expectations. Pictures simply do not do it justice. The Piazza dei Miracoli is breathtaking, and every building is stunning. One of the most unforgettable moments was inside the Baptistry when our guide requested a demonstration of its incredible acoustics. A staff member stepped into the center and sang, and hearing her beautiful voice echo throughout the building gave me chills. It was one of the most moving experiences of our entire vacation. Florence was equally amazing. Before we even arrived, Nariman made restaurant reservations for us so we didn’t have to waste our free time waiting for a table. That thoughtful gesture allowed us to enjoy over two hours exploring this incredible city. Our Florence guide, Luis, was fantastic. His passion for Florence, its history, and Michelangelo was obvious in every story he shared. He didn’t just recite facts. He brought the city to life and made us appreciate what we were seeing so much more. The perfect ending to an already incredible day was when Artur drove us up to Piazzale Michelangelo for the panoramic overlook of Florence. I had the most amazing small group tour from Rome to Pisa and Florence. Nariman, our guide was fun, engaging, kind, inclusive, and brilliant. Emanuele, our driver, was also very welcoming, a great driver, very observant, engaging, and handled any challenges with ease. I trusted these guys with my life. I would send my kids on the road with them. These gentlemen are such an asset to this company. They made my first trip to Italy so memorable. As a bonus, members of my tour have all become friends. We check in with one another, and have even made plans to meet up to visit in our respective cities. We were able to become friendly with another group on the same tour. Even the guide from that group was so helpful with our group. He made sure we didn’t lag behind or wander off. The restaurant we visited in Florence was so good. Our driver, Luigi, should be a NASCAR driver. He drives fast, but very carefully. He is also a great person to hang out with. Very glad to we got to meet him. Our guide, Malak, was amazing! She was very informative and kind. She even gave my wife and daughter a great place to get real authentic leather purses. She was an expert on what we were observing, and continually filled us in with local information. The best part of all, was that 90% of the time, it was just my family, Malak and Luigi. You could not have asked for a better trip. It was worth every penny!

Nariman and Roberto were INCREDIBLE!!! The tour is incredibly long at 14 hours, including 7 hours of drive time, but with these two leading the way, it didn’t feel that way.
