If you are interested in fishing try another trip. Mostly riding with a little fishing. The captain tried to find a place to fish but the wind did not cooperate.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the fishing did not meet your expectations. Fishing in the Arctic fjords can sometimes be unpredictable, especially when wind and sea conditions make it difficult to stay in the best fishing areas. Our captain always does his best to find suitable spots, but safety and comfort on the water must come first. Our trips are designed as a combination of fjord cruising, scenery, and the opportunity to try fishing when conditions allow. On some days the fishing is excellent, while on others the weather can make it more challenging. We truly appreciate your understanding and your comment about the captain’s effort to find a good place to fish. Feedback like yours helps future guests better understand the nature of fishing in the Arctic environment. Thank you again for joining us on the water.
My wife and I went on a fishing trip on the Arctic Charm. The marketing materials said we would "meet our crew". It was a crew of one whose name was Per. He drove the boat, helped with the fishing gear, cooked the fish (while the boat was on auto), and regaled us with stories (while the boat was on auto). The boat is a catamaran and certainly needs at least two crew. We were told we could get out of the cold and inside to warm up. Practically no heat with a small fuel heater that had little to no impact. There is no warming up in a canvas tent covering a section of the catamaran. In the front of the boat a cabin area had a heater that was not working. All six of us asked to return early. We were also left by ourselves on the boat at the dock once returning and told to wait. After a few minutes we just got off on our own.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We have operated Arctic fishing experiences for more than 10 years, and unfortunately this particular trip was affected by an unexpected technical issue. The heater, gradually failed during the tour. Once at sea, there was no possibility to repair or replace it, and we fully understand that this impacted your comfort. Regarding the crew: Arctic Charm is certified and legally operated with one skipper, which is standard for this vessel type and passenger capacity. The skipper’s role naturally includes navigation, guest assistance, and safety. Upon returning to the harbor, the skipper briefly assisted another vessel in a situation requiring immediate help. Maritime regulations obligate us to provide assistance when safety is involved. All guests were informed at the time. We are genuinely sorry that the heating issue reduced your enjoyment of the tour. Guest comfort is extremely important to us, and this was an unfortunate combination of circumstances we would have preferred to avoid. Best reg Kurt Arild
While in Tromso to see the Northern Lights my daughter suggested we go fishing. I thought it would be too cold but once I saw the stay warm suits I was all in. We both caught fish (cod) and then the captain made us a wonderful fish stew/soup with it. I would go again and again if I had the opportunity.
Super Thanks for feedback Best Regarding Kurt Arild Larsen And Per Ståle Larsen
Originally our fishing tour was with Polar Explorations (but they decided they wouldn’t do the tour as we were the only two passengers!) They then referred us to this company instead; we had to pay extra as ostensibly this tour was to be on a Luxury Catamaran - yet, we ended up on a regular power boat - apparently the catamaran was being refurbished (?) It didn’t look like an unexpected repair at the last moment. Would’ve been nice if they had told us of that beforehand. Moreover, we should not have been asked to pay the extra charge when the tour was on a regular powerboat - as we’d only received a confirmation late the day before that the tour was on, it would have been the proper thing to do. One doesn’t mind paying the expected rate but equally, one would expect that whatever is promised gets delivered. Anyway it was fun with Per-Ståle captaining the boat. He was friendly, helpful, and informative.
Thanks for joining us at Arctic Queen, the newst Yacht in the City. Since you booked on the oldest boat in the city, we kindly asked for a litte extra to pay, joining our newer boats. But still lower than normal price. I am sorry we needed to use our most expensive boat in this small group tour. Sometimes we need to be flexible if something un expected happens with boats, but we always try to help our guests, even only two guests, or idea is helping our visitors have an experience in Tromsø after all.
Kurt is awesome and completely committed to providing a memorable experience. His attention to detail and enthusiasm is evident right from the word go. A thorough professional and well informed guide. The Arctic Princess is extremely nice and Kurt is even nicer. :)
I am a complete novice at fishing and went on this trip with my fishing mad partner. What a great time! The catamaran was beautiful, Per the skipper was very knowledgable and gave great tips on catching fish and the boat was a good stable platform to fish from if you don’t have “sealegs”! Thermal suits were available too which was well needed as it was pretty chilly, but snug and warm you could really enjoy the experience. I caught my first (and second... and third... and fourth!!) fish - all good size cod -wow! Per took some of the catch to make into a delicious soup which we had on the way back to the berth and we released the rest as we caught them. Per had lots of good stories and I would definitely go fishing with him again. I’d love to try some of the other trips, like the northern lights trip. Highly recommend this though! Thanks Per!
Nice family trip. Nice boat and skipper. Our kids wanted to cash some big fish and we got plenty :) Fun to be served an excellent fish soup, cooked on our own fish. Recomended!
A beautiful experience with a smart skipper. We have spent four hours on the catamarano looking at beautiful landscapes , we have fished and, thanks to our skipper Pit, have eaten what we have fished. Inforgettable.
Thank you for sailing with us, Skipper Per do a very good job, and our guests are very happy with the Skipper and our Fish soup as well ;) Thanks again best reg Kurt Arild
Hello ! Bonjour Jérôme, Many many many thanks for this nice Tromso Fishing activity It was a pleasure to learn the basics of fishing and to eat what we had freshly caught An amazing expérience with a real very friendly professional
Hi,Thanks for fishing with us, I am very happy that you like our tour. Best reg Kurt Arild
We had a 3 hour cruise on a catamaran which included a short fishing trip that yielded a large plate-sized cod each cast. The skipper then cooked up a tasty fresh fish soup for us to eat on the journey home. Excellent value for money and a great way to see the landscape.
Hehe nice. Yes its very good fishing here in our area. Thank you.
