I hamnen har vi vårt första matstopp för skaldjursfantaster; det är dags att smaka på musslor, ostron med citron.
Vårt andra stopp blir ett besök på huvudtorget Moulay Hassan, ingången till Kasbah och medinan med ett litet stopp bredvid fiskgrillningsstugorna.
Efter att ha besökt mellah och de gamla husen som fortfarande bär Davids stjärna, kommer vi att upptäcka de lokala marknaderna: kött, oliver, så vi kommer att ha vårt fjärde stopp för att smaka kanderade oliver med kryddig sås (harrissa) en av hemligheterna i det marockanska köket , och vi kommer också att besöka grönsaksmarknaden där vi kommer att få möjlighet att smaka på säsongens frukter. Efter att ha besökt marknaderna kommer vi att upptäcka centrum av medinan eller snarare dess hjärta, vi kommer att upptäcka fiskmarknaden, där vi kan köpa fisk och grilla den, efter att vi besöker spannmålstorget, även känt som foundouk (hotell) för karavanerna som kommer från tombouctou för handeln på hamnen i essaouira på 1700-talet. Efter att vi kommer att upptäcka (Jousia) marknaden för loppmarknaden, ganska livlig plats på eftermiddagen.

We had a wonderful experience. We sampled foods we’d never have tried on our own and glad we did. It wasn’t anything we wouldn’t normally eat but having someone guide you is comforting. It also went beyond just food, as it is difficult to separate culture and food in Morocco.

I had such an incredible experience on this food tour in Essaouira! It was honestly one of the highlights of my trip to Morocco. From the very beginning, everything was perfectly organized and welcoming. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about Moroccan culture and cuisine. They didn’t just take us to eat — they told the stories behind each dish, the traditions, and the local ingredients, which made the experience so much richer. The food itself was amazing. We tried a great variety of authentic flavors — from fresh seafood and traditional street food to sweet pastries and local delicacies. Everything was fresh, delicious, and carefully selected. I especially loved how we visited small, local spots that I would have never found on my own.

We learned a lot about the city, but the food was limited to a mini bowl of fish pieces, cookies and some savory pastries. We didn't think so for 236 € and we have already booked such tours all over Europe. Not recommended. Also little info about food. But what do you want to say about cookies and pastries?

We did our best to quickly arrange a replacement through him, but clearly, the experience did not come through at the level we expect from our tours. What a great experience this tour was in Essaouira. It was absolutely not just about food, but about the complete story of the city. In almost three hours, you'll not only sip delicious snacks — from fresh fish at the port to sweet pastille and freshly squeezed fruit juice — but also get a captivating slice of history and culture. Zaid managed to find just the right balance between tasting and telling. You will walk through the medina, discover places you would never visit yourself and learn something about the life and past of Essaouira. Everything feels small and personal, which makes it extra special. In short: this is not a standard food tour, but an experience. Highly recommended if you want to feel, taste and understand the city
