Such a great family run cooking class. We learned about traditional cooking skills and got to make multiple curries which we then enjoyed with a gorgeous sunset view of the mountains! Definitely recommend if you’re in Ella!
Kamala and Irosha were absolutely brilliant. We learned so much about Sri Lankan cooking and traditional methods of preparing curries. Cannot recommend enough!

Thoroughly enjoyed the cooking experience, however, getting there was a bit challenging, with an uphill climb, uneven steps and no rail to hold on to
Wonderful experience this cooking class. The kitchen faces a tea plantation, on the same path as Little Adam’s Peak. Nice to combine. Mother and daughter are super sweet people who master the art of making a nice curry. Highly recommended!
We had such a wonderful experience at Mom’s House cooking class! From the moment we arrived, everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, accommodating and hospitable. The class was fantastic, really informative and hands-on, with a great insight into traditional Sri Lankan cooking. They demonstrated authentic, traditional methods and took the time to explain everything clearly, which made the experience both enjoyable and educational. It was a lovely opportunity to learn about the food and culture, and the fact that they sent us all the recipes afterwards was a fantastic touch. We would highly recommend Mom’s House to anyone looking for an authentic, memorable Sri Lankan cooking experience. A real highlight of our trip!

We had an amazing cooking class with Irosha and her mother, Kamala. They were both incredibly kind, welcoming, and made us feel at home from the very beginning. Cooking outdoors made the whole experience even more special and authentic. They explained every step clearly, taught us about the local ingredients, and happily answered all of our questions. We attended the class as a couple, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. After the class, we enjoyed the delicious lunch that we had prepared together. Every dish was fresh, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this cooking class to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. Thank you, Irosha and Kamala, for your warm hospitality and for giving us such a wonderful and unforgettable experience!
A culinary highlight of our trip! We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with Kamala and her daughter Irosha. The dishes were incredibly flavorful, and the cooking workshop was fun, educational, and delightful. All the recipes were clearly explained step-by-step, and the cooking was done in the traditional way, giving us a real introduction to colorful and authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Amazing cookery class. I took my two sons - 22 and 16 yo and we had such a great experience. The host and her mum were amazing - so knowledgeable and the food delicious. Totally recommend.
