Bikeiberia was great to work with and located just meters from the water front bike path. Bikes were in good order and we had no issues. We rode for 4 hours straight and never put a dent in the battery reserves.
Unsafe route! Traffic! Took half hour to get started due to bike mechanical issue. Then heading to train a challenge thru city traffic. Upon arrival at Sintra it was clearly NOT bike friendly. When we finally mounted bikes - 2 1/2 hr into journey - we felt horribly unsafe, riding on windy narrow roads with traffic buzzing by. Very unsafe. The route ended with a bike path - finally - for last 20% of ride. By then we were so frazzled by near death traffic encounters that we couldn’t enjoy it. Don’t do this unless you are ok riding on roads close to cars. This is NOT a bike path route. Bikes also not the best. We rented several southern Europe e-bikes. All good condition except these. Cannot recommend this tour. Simply did not feel safe riding this route and we are experienced bikers.
Friendly uncomplicated staff, good advice, tips for interesting tours. Bicycles are in good condition
This was an amazing experience with a great ride from Sintra to Cascais through a national forest and then along the coast to Cascais. We were glad we were on e-bikes because it's quite a steep climb! The way this works is that you get the bikes at the rental location at Cais do Sodre, then catch a train to Sintra (which turned out to be pretty easy to do). Then we walked our bikes through Sintra since it was overflowing with tourists. But then we got onto the path out of town and, from then on, it was great. You catch the train again in Cascais. I recommend getting to the rental place at the first possible moment because, if you want to make any stops, there isn't a lot of extra time to make it back before the rental shop closes. Recommended stops include: Don Quixote for lunch and Cabo da Roca, the most western point of Portugal.
Fantastic day - I thoroughly enjoyed it. FYI - trains leave for Sintra on the hour and trains back from Cascais take 45 mins.
The GPS app they have you download is terrible. Ride a bike through Sintra? Walk your bike up the narrow, crowded hills? What a joke. The guy who set us up told us it wouldn’t be crowded - just get off the bikes and walk. Yeah, ok! Fairly certain he has never done the self guided tour himself. No real guidance regarding the trains we had to take. Fine. We figure it out, but it would be helpful information. Overall, a failure. After walking our bikes up part of the crowded, narrow street in Sintra we turned around. It wasn’t worth it. People (tourists and locals alike) either laughed at us or made rude comments. I promise you, it’s not worth it.
The ride was incredible. The staff was fantastic and provided everything I needed for the day, including the app that allowed me to track my path and progress. The train ride to Sintra was efficient and the town was really cute. The ride was breathtaking and peaceful. It helped to have the e bike for some of the hills. Cascais was amazing and the beaches were gorgeous. Can’t wait to go back! I encourage this particular tour guide group and they were so helpful and reassuring. I was traveling solo and it can be intimidating to do a day trip alone in a foreign land. They made it very accommodating.
This is not a private tour, but a self-guided tour by satellite GPS. The bikes are great, but work great! The tour could be done from your phone (Google map) We highly recommend doing sintra cascais by bike! This is the most beautiful bike ride you've ever made. Electrical assistance is really appreciated when climbing to pena Don't include entries. Included train ticket (less than 5 EUR). If you have the opportunity to only rent bikes from lisbonne, this is the ideal day of adventure
Very nice, reliable and helpful staff. Punctual, patient and faultless service. Worth the price. Thank you for your true kindness guys.
Hi Minnicsakmenni, Thank you for your kind review and words on our Services! We do appreciate your good words on our hard working team! Kindess does generate more kindness! We hope to welcome you once again! Many Greetings from Lisbon bikeiberia team
You have to be a confident cyclist to enjoy this trip. The Sat Nav is something you have to trust your intuition with. I arrived at 9.30, and the instructions I was given were very clear. Arrive early to get away early. You catch the train from Lisbon with the bike - you need to be strong enough to lift the bike - it’s heavy. The route is absolutely stunning - I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys scenic cycling, you certainly need an e bike unless you are super fit!
Hi Brattanio, Thank you so much for your great review, It is great that you enjoyed your Sintra-Cascais Bike Tour. Indeed this ride is best for those who regurarly cycle and spend time on the outdoors. Usually on the train station Bikes are take on the lift! The beautiful Sintra forest is well worth a Bike Ride, as is the ride along the coast and into Cascais! We hope to welcome you some other time around!
