E-Bike Cycle Greenway - Westport Till Achill Island Atlantkusten

Highly recommended. There are a few bike hire places in Westport but Paddy's sits above them for a simple reason - his location is right beside the entrance to a lovely park which makes the initial stages of the cycle on the greenway much more pleasant than a potentially frightening cycle or walk through the very busy town of Westport. There is a large inventory and variety of bikes & Paul fitted out our group perfectly and was also very flexible with a couple of late cancellations we had. We had no mechanical issues on our 4 hour jouney and we also had a very easy check-out experience on Achill. A+++

This activity was fantastic. Paddy and Nelly bike hire is the best. don't go to any other place in Westport to rent bikes. we did an e-bike tour and it was really fantastic. Beautiful scenery. We never did e-bike before. Paddy was so flexible. We change the day and changed the time. NO PROBLEM. Wonderful people. You must do this!!!

Pick up was easy! Paul was very clear about how far places were. When I booked it on trip advisor it said 27 miles to Achill Island. I have ridden my e bike in the states that far. But this was different. I am fairly fit but my husband not! (I am just explaining the facts!!) The bikes were fitted fine, they are power assist. First thing was up a hill to get to greenway. He was done!!! The signage isn’t great. He drove back and I went on to Newport. But first, I took a wrong turn and ended up in town again. After asking many locals (they all said it is very confusing) I finally got on the GW in the right direction!!!! It was wonderful!!! Thank God someone painted on the ground the way to go! I was done when I got to Newport. Stopped at the first pub for a drink and cycled back. Just fyi. There are hills!!! You go through fields of cows and sheep. It is lovely but just know your limits, Guess I will drive to Achill Island!

A lovely cycle with 4 friends. Didn’t complete the cycle to Achill as we did not give ourselves enough time (our fault). It wasn’t a problem as we arranged with the driver to pick us up in Mulranny. He was a very patient man giving us plenty of clear advice and instructions. We probably missed the nicest part of the cycle from Mulranny to Achill but there is always next time. Thank you

Best experience in Westport. Paddy was a great host and made sure we had the right bikes and helmets, Paddy also lent us a panniers so we didn’t need to cycle with backpacks. The route was the perfect distance for a long ride, we’ll sign posted with coffee and drinks on the way. County Mayo turned on the weather for us and we could see Col Patrick’s Reek which we had climbed the day before.

The staff at paddy and Nelly bike hire were a pleasure to deal with. Paul was very helpful helping us pick out suitable ebikes for our cycle and it was very convenient for accessing the greenway. The shuttle bus back to Westport was also very convenient. I could not recommend paddy and Nelly bike hire enough.

We had a great day cycling on ebikes to Achill Island. The route was mainly off road and very varied. The bikes were then collected and we were given a lift back.

Would definitely recommend this. I hadn't been on a bike for years so Elke took time to make sure I was happy with the bike and how to use it. She also explained that if we wanted we could finish at Mulranny and get the bus back from there. But we did the full 45 Km. We left at 10 o'clock, stopped for lunch in Mulranny and got to Achill Island in time to get the 3.27 pm bus back to Westport. The scenery on route was amazing. We did take a wrong turn at the start so a map of the route would be helpful. My husband had some issues with slippage in 5th and 6th gears.

Amazing experience! Paul was super helpful getting us set up with the bikes and out to the trail. Dropping off the bikes was very straight forward and easy.

Helpful staff with good directions. Reasonable prices. Beautiful countryside and amazing views! Some real Irish weather included slight rain and very stiff winds. We were very thankful for the electric assist!
