What a great experience! Great tour of Oxford and great views of Bampton and Highclere Castle! Tour guide was knowledgeable and funny. One suggestion: since we were encouraged to grab food in Oxford, a washroom stop at Bampton is needed!
Although expensive it's was an excellent tour with 3 destinations ..Tour guide was an absolute gentleman a really lovey guy called Frank. Highclere House is a must see steeped in history
Very good tour if you want to be occupied for the day. Lots of opportunity to walk and see things or spend free time at a cafe or pub. I'd like if clips from Downton Abbey were shown during the drive as well during times of traffic or quiet time. This tour is perfect for someone who loves the show.
Great tour guide Frank! Bus needs a good cleaning but otherwise ok.
Excellent, informative, personable guide. Very knowledgeable and fun day. Gave a great commentary. Highly recommends.
Frank and Christen were excellent. Frank our tour guide was very knowledgeable and a cute sense of humor. Christen was an excellent driver. We loved our tour and seeing the castle and small tours where Downton Abbey was filmed.
Eva was a fantastic tour guide who was both incredibly knowledgable and personable. She made sure we had the best tour possible. She was hilarious and made so many funny references to downton abbey, connecting to each of us by asking our favorite character. Whether you were a fan of the show or not, she made everyone feel included. She made sure to personally connect to everyone on the tour and was so helpful every step of the way. She gave us the perfect amount of time in each stop and we couldn't have asked for more! We had more than enough time to tour the towns and the castle and Eva created a welcoming atmosphere where we could ask questions and no one was left behind. Robert was a great driver who kept us safe and got us home in record time. He was funny, kind, and got us everywhere on time. Cannot recommend this tour and this guide and driver enough! This is a wonderful way to spend your day and get a taste of the best the uk has to offer- castles, shopping and stunning views!
Well organized, tour guide gave lots of information and kept us on time without being pushy, excellent driver
It was the worst tour experiences I’ve ever had. The day started early in central London Victoria and lasted over 10 hours in total, with a big group. But here’s the reality: the actual time spent sightseeing, including meals and toilet breaks, was less than 4 hours (we spent most of our sightseeing time in Oxford). The rest was spent either stuck on a broken coach with smoke and no air conditioning, waiting for a replacement, or sitting in the bus. We arrived at Highclere Castle so late that we were given only 15 minutes inside the castle— and we had to follow a designated guide in a strict one-way route, with no chance to explore on our own or linger anywhere. That is not a visit; it’s being rushed through like cattle. If I had known it would be this rushed, I would never have booked this tour. I could have simply taken a non-peak train to Oxford on my own — cheaper, more flexible, and I would have actually enjoyed a full day instead of wasting hours on coach. The operator later claimed we had ‘about an hour’ at the castle — misleading. They counted the grounds, gift shop , toilet breaks and etc. Inside the castle was 15 minutes. They also said ‘all three locations were completed’ — but Oxford and Bampton’s Abby were just add-ons. I booked this for Highclere Castle. Checking off a list is not the same as delivering a meaningful experience. I paid over £150 for an experience, not a forced march. For that amount of time and money, I would have much preferred that they simply canceled the rest of the tour, gave me a meaningful refund, and brought me back to London earlier. At least then I could have saved my day and money, rebooked a proper tour another time. Instead, they kept me on the road for hours , put me through smoke and heat, and delivered a 15-minute ‘visit’ that was not worth the travel time to get there. That is not a tour — that is a waste of my day. Beyond the wasted day and the disappointing outcome itself, what made it worse was the days of back-and-forth communication with the operator and platform that followed. Despite explaining the situation clearly, their offer of 25% remained unchanged. That exhausting process — which dragged on for several days — added significant stress to my trip. Instead of enjoying London, I found myself spending precious holiday time negotiating for basic fairness. A bad tour is one thing — but a bad tour followed by a frustrating and time-consuming dispute is something else entirely. I came here to enjoy my trip, not to spend my time fighting for basic consumer rights. I’ve taken many tours and left positive reviews over the years. This is the first time I’ve felt the need to warn others. This tour is not worth your time and money, especially when something happens, they’ll rush you through the main attractions and then try to minimize your complaint with misleading numbers— book with someone else, or better yet, go to Oxford on your own by train (advance booking, non-peak hours).
Oxford and Highclere were lovely. The bus was new and clean, and an issue with the onboard bathroom was quickly resolved. The tour guide Eva was VERY, VERY TALKATIVE, perhaps a bit too much, prattling on about cows and pigeons and toilet facilities at our stops. If you like your tour guides to be chatty, and to be knowledgeable about Downton Abbey, this is a good tour for you.
