Valvet, som ursprungligen var en del av Luzerns tågstation som byggdes 1896, var det enda element som överlevde en förödande brand 1971. Idag är det ett skyddat landmärke och en symbol för förgänglighet och förändring i Luzerns stadsbild. Inskriptionen "Sic transit gloria mundi" påminner oss om obeständigheten av mänskliga prestationer.
Jesuitkyrkan byggdes mellan 1666 och 1677 och är Schweiz första stora barockkyrka. Den byggdes av jesuiterna under motreformationen och syftade till att stärka den katolska tron i regionen. Denna magnifika struktur är fortfarande ett framträdande exempel på barockens heliga arkitektur och ett utmärkande drag i Luzerns stadsbild.
Spreuerbron, som byggdes 1408, är en av Luzerns historiska träbroar. Ursprungligen en del av stadens befästningar, tillät det bortskaffande av agnar ("Spreu") i floden. Den är prydd med 67 1600-talsmålningar som föreställer "Dödens dans" och är ett sällsynt exempel på medeltida konst och arkitektur som visar Luzerns rika historia.
Gamla stan i Luzern är en välbevarad medeltida stadskärna som kännetecknas av sina charmiga torg, fresker och smala gränder. Med landmärken som Kapellbron och Musegg-muren speglar den stadens rika historia och fungerar som ett levande nav för kultur, shopping och restauranger, som blandar tradition med modernitet.
Lejonmonumentet, snidat 1821, hedrar minnet av schweizergardet som dog under franska revolutionen 1792. Den föreställer ett döende lejon och symboliserar mod och uppoffringar. Mark Twain beskrev den som "den mest sörjande och rörande stenbiten i världen", vilket gör den till ett gripande landmärke i Luzerns historia.
Kapellbron, som byggdes 1333, är Luzerns ikoniska träbro och en av de äldsta i Europa. Här finns trekantiga 1600-talsmålningar som skildrar stadens historia. Även om den delvis förstördes av brand 1993, restaurerades den och är fortfarande en symbol för Luzerns arv och motståndskraft.

It was a very comprehensive and well run tour; the guide was knowledgeable and took us on a logical route with good recommendations passed on along the way. It covers a lot of ground at a reasonable pace.

Jeremy was a great guide. I happened to be the only one signed up for this day. It was great getting to know some of the history of the city plus getting to know my way around it so I could continue on my own once the tour was done.

I was unsure at first because there weren’t many reviews, but I’m glad I joined! The tour was well organized and very interesting. It’s a great way to explore Lucerne and learn about its history. Walking through the city with a knowledgeable guide gave a whole new perspective – much better than just wandering around alone. I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Lucerne.

I normally don’t write Tripadvisor reviews (who has the time?), but this tour deserves it. At first, I was a bit skeptical since the tour is quite new, but our guide Benjamin made it an incredibly pleasant and engaging experience. I’ve been to Lucerne several times and thought I knew the city well, but I was surprised by how much I learned through the historical context he provided. A great mix of storytelling, history, and local insight. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to discover a deeper side of Lucerne!

I really wanted this tour to be worth the money we paid, but the tour guide knew very little about the area—even without his binder, which he didn’t have with him. Granted, I booked the tour several hours in advance, he must not have checked his email or text and it wasn’t until I called him that he knew we were waiting for him at the meeting point. As luck would have it, he was actually very near by so it started only 10 min later than scheduled. Not worth the money we paid, but since the charge was transacted at the time of the booking we gave it a go.
