Vår vänliga engelsktalande förareguide kommer hämta dig på ditt hotell i Florens för att börja dagen med att gå till Pisa, en lugn och trevlig stad som återkallar det förflutna i Pisanrepubliken. Flodsystemet i Pisa hindrade det från att sjunka mot slutet av det romerska riket. Vi kommer att fokusera på Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), en UNESCO världsarvslista. Duomo är en medeltida katedral med massiva bronsdörrar och dess gyllene tak, dess medeltida prekestol och dess svartvita marmorinteriör är hisnande ... Den närliggande rundformade byggnaden är dopet, med ett åttkantigt stilsort som kontrasterar och ett stort runt inre utrymme . Det lutande tornet var campanilen (klocktornet för katedralen) började luta sig strax efter slutförandet år 1173.
Efter ett stopp på ca 1 timme lämnar vi till SAN GIMIGNANO. Staden grundades som en liten by i 3: e århundradet f.Kr. av etruskiska och är känd idag för sitt vin (Vernaccia) och arkitektur. San Gimignano kallas ofta "tornstaden", eftersom staden har kunnat bevara 14 torn från medeltida tider .... verkligen en filmuppsättning! Njut av en informativ promenad med vår förare genom de smala gatorna i denna vackra medeltida pärla.
Är det dags att gå vidare till SIENA, men på vägen vill vi ta ett snabbt stopp till MONTERIGGIONI, en av de mest kända och klassiska murarna i Toscana. Denna by byggdes på en kulle av Siena mellan 1213 och 1219 för att förbise den gamla romerska vägen Via Cassia
han historiska centrum av Siena har förklarats som världsarvslista av UNESCO. Den höga horisonten är dess stolthet, dominerad av den gotiska katedralen (Duomo) och den spända nålen på Torre del Mangia och ändå den skalformade Piazza del Campo, fångar troligtvis mest uppmärksamhet och berömmelse. Den har ses i filmer, fotografier och reklamkampanjer. Tegelstenen täcker det sött sluttande marken under och är vittne för många händelser i historien, men den mest spännande är "Palio" horserace, en av de viktigaste sakerna i en Sienas inhemska liv. På piazzaen den 2 juli och 16 augusti finns det en baracksport som först spelades in 1283, men kan ha haft sitt ursprung i romersk militärträning. Inte att missa Palazzo Pubblico (rådhuset) vilket är ett bra arbete av arkitektur och hus också ett viktigt museum i Siena.
På vägen tillbaka till Florens får du chansen att besöka en del av det charmiga CHIANTI-området karakteriserat av böljande kullar med vinodlingar, cypresser, olivträd och småstäder. Besök Panzano och Greve, två av de vackraste Chianti-städerna. Det är också möjligt att stanna vid en vingård för att smaka på utmärkta viner och extra jungfruolja. Återvänd till Florens på eftermiddagen med fulla bellies, ett lyckligt hjärta och bra minnen ...

This was an amazing experience to be able to see other parts of Tuscany and get a break from the 15 000 steps a day. Being that it was private, we were able to customize the trip being that my wife's pregnant. He drove us everywhere we needed to go to make things easy as well as made great recommendations of must see places and Gelato stands.

We enjoyed our day in Tuscany. Alex, our driver, was on time, friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience to our liking. We went first to the Michelangelo plaza, across the river, where we had not been yet for a great view of Florence. We chose not to go to Pisa, for more time in the Chianti area and wine tasting. We drove to Monteriggiani, a small walled town, which had a recent restoration. Throughout the day, all buildings were a way to feel how itight have been in medieval times. Then was Siena, with its massive, unfinished, cathedral, and the unique shell shaped plaza. We went wine tasting and lunch at Corbacci, an exclusive experience, as we get to pair wine with meal. Our host Agnes guided us through the tasting and with a passion for wine. The scenery of this place is all we have in mind when we think Tuscany. Lunch was great, no surprise. We left and headed.to St Gminiano, another well preserved medieval town, though with a different flare. Alex drove thru the countryside for more spectacular views. Then back to Florence, already planning our next visit.

We splurged on a private car for our day trip from Florence to see the highlights of Tuscany. Massimo picked us up at our hotel and provided the perfect combination of structured and free time to explore Siena and other gems. Definitely worth the extra cost to have a car and driver to ourselves.

Alex was phenomenal! He picked us up and took us to 3 medieval towns and 2 wineries. His knowledge of the area was quite extensive! He was really kind, patient and had the best recommendations both along our route and in Florence. We sincerely enjoyed our day with him and would book with him again if we had more time!
