Börja vår Fez Medina-vandring vid Bab Bou Jeloud (Blå porten), på västra sidan av Medina. Ursprungligen byggd på 1100-talet, rekonstruerades den som en trebågig port 1913 av fransmännen för att skapa en större ingång till staden.
Efter att ha kommit in i porten, ta en snabb vänster, sedan höger in på Talaa Kebira. Passera en uppsjö av intressanta stånd och kaféer och besök Medersa Bou Inania (20 Drh). Madersa byggdes på 1350-talet och är den finaste teologiska skolan i staden och innehåller en hel moské.
Det ligger i Fes el Bali, det äldsta medinakvarteret i staden, nära Saffarin Madrasa längs Oued Fes
Sväng höger förbi färgarens souk och spegelstånd längs Leather Street innan du anländer till charmiga Place Seffarine.
Du är nu tillbaka på de största shoppinggatorna. Den vackra Souk el Attarine säljer alla möjliga sorters kläder och juveler och flankeras av det extremt utsmyckade mausoleet Moulay Idriss III. Byggt 1323 anser många att detta är hjärtat av medinan.
Besök Henna Souk och Museum of Woods, Arts & Crafts (20 Drh) vid den restaurerade fondouk på Place an-Nejjarine. Gå sedan längs Talaa Seghira och tillbaka till Blue Gate för att hitta en plats för en sen lunch.
Place Seffarine är den perfekta platsen för en paus. Ta ett sött myntate på trottoaren vid Crèmerie la Place och se metallarbetarna slå sina koppargrytor och -pannor till underkastelse.

Our guide Driss, was accommodating and adapted the pace and route to suit us, travelling with a child, which we really appreciated. We covered the key sights and learned a lot about the city and its history.
We had a wonderful time with our guide Driss . He has a great culture of Fes, his explanations are very interesting, he adapts the visit according to your desires, I recommend it with closed eyes! Thank you very much.
Idriss was an incredible guide and made our experience in Fes better than we could have imagined. It was clear that he was born and raised in the Medina, he knew the area and its history like the back of his hand. He also has experience as both a teacher and a tour guide throughout Morocco so we were able to get answers to any question we had about Amazigh and Moroccan history. The experience felt much more authentic and personal as we walked the streets and every day residents would stop us to say hi to Idriss who is just another one of their neighbors!

Excellent guide!! we read the other reviews and Driss is exactly as it is described! A great knowledge of the city , a real inhabitant of Fes . He guided us off the beaten track in the medina with very interesting explanations that we would not have had without him. Very friendly, very attentive and so smiling. Very cultured. a lot of finesse and intelligence in our exchanges going well beyond simple information about the city! A very nice visit to Fes and a real meeting. How lucky we were! Driss was AMAZING. Important things I was looking for was someone who could speak understandable English and not a guide taking us to places we were pressured to buy. He spoke amazing English ( and many other languages); we were not bothered by any shop owners while we were with him. Part of the tour and things we wanted to see were the tanneries, which after seeing they took us downstairs to buy leather if we would like. We did not feel pressured but this was where the locals came to buy leather as well. There was also a Berber carpet shop ( he gave us the option) and we wanted to buy blankets so we went. Also, he asked if we wanted to go to an argan oil place. Another presentation but no pressure and very informative. We wanted to buy different things in the shop so we opted in. Fez would have been very difficult to see without a guide and was also great company. He offered to take us somewhere to eat and then continue on but we had skipped breakfast and the rest of the group wanted to shop for trinkets. I would recommend him to ANYONE looking for a really great guide. Felt like I was hanging out with my Grandpa in his hometown. Very knowledgable and friendly to everyone in the town. It was so nice being with him walking through the medina. Don't hesitate to book through him. I will be sending my friends his number to come. A huge thing for me is not being taken to places to just buy stuff and he was an answer to my dreams come true. Great tour!

Idriss was very knowledgeable, explained in great detail all the sites, helped us taste the local delicacies, and was very friendly and helpful. My wife forgot her phone in our car and Idriss went out of his way to get her phone. Idriss is the best. He was like a family member taking us around. He did not rush us. He helped us with our shopping.
