Du kommer att ha chansen att upptäcka alla aspekter av det offer som gjordes av amerikanska soldater den 6 juni 1944. Vi kommer att täcka den amerikanska sjöburna operationen genom att besöka de två stränderna där amerikanska soldater landade, Omaha Beach och Utah Beach, samt den tyska fästningen Pointe du Hoc, attackerad av US Army Rangers. Vi kommer också att besöka platserna för den amerikanska luftburna operationen, inklusive dess mest ikoniska plats, Sainte-Mère-Eglise, där en fruktansvärd strid inträffade natten till den 5 juni 1944. Slutligen kommer vi att ha chansen att visa vår respekt för de tusentals män som gav sina liv för att befria Europa genom att besöka den amerikanska kyrkogården i Normandie.

Först kommer vi att ha en 30-minuters bilresa från Bayeux till Omaha Beach. Du kommer att börja dagen där de 1:a och 29:e amerikanska infanteridivisionerna landade. Våra guider, med hjälp av kartor och bilder, kommer att förklara för dig alla detaljer om "bloody Omaha". Från utformningen av det tyska försvaret till de första vågornas svåra situation kommer vi att dela med dig av berättelserna om dessa modiga Gi's som erövrade stranden.
Din guide kommer att visa dig den amerikanska kyrkogården bakom Omaha-stranden. viloplatsen för mer än 9 000 amerikanska militärer och kvinnor. Denna heliga plats, som drivs av American Battle Monuments Commission, är den mest besökta D-Day-platsen i Normandie.
Du kommer att upptäcka den unika platsen för Pointe du Hoc. Följ fotspåren från den 2:a amerikanska rangerbataljonen ledd av den berömda överstelöjtnant James E. Rudder som tog sig upp över klipporna för att förstöra ett tyskt vapenbatteri som hotade hela USA:s landningsoperation. Bomba kratrar, bunkrar, dugouts, kom och se detta enastående slagfält. Efter att ha besökt Pointe du Hoc kör vi 30 minuter till Sainte-Mère-Eglise.
I hjärtat av den luftburna operationen kommer du att besöka den lilla staden Sainte-Mère-Eglise. Det var den första staden som intogs av amerikanska fallskärmsjägare. En av dem fastnade på kyrktornet under den natten. Din guide kommer att dela med dig av detaljerna om denna avgörande operation och många berättelser om dessa modiga män. Vi lämnar sedan Sainte-Mère-Eglise och kör 20 minuter till Utah Beach.
På stranden i Utah kommer din guide att berätta hur 4:e infanteridivisionen framgångsrikt bröt mot det tyska försvaret. Den första vågen leddes av brigadgeneral Theodore Roosevelt Jr som landade på stranden vid 06:30. Han tilldelades så småningom hedersmedaljen. Vi kör sedan 15 minuter till vårt nästa stopp, Angoville-au-Plain.
Din guide tar dig till kyrkan Angoville-au-Plain. Denna plats användes som en hjälpstation. Två unga läkare behandlade cirka 80 skadade soldater under två dagar. Upptäck deras heroiska bedrift, en gripande berättelse om mänsklighet och hängivenhet på slagfältet. Efter detta besök kommer vi att ha en 35 minuters bilresa tillbaka till Bayeux.

Phenomenal tour with the BEST guide. Paul had not only an expansive knowledge of WWII but also of the region, other significant cultural events, and current happenings. He was vey engaging and made the tour feel totally informational. We felt comfortable asking any and all questions. 150% would take this tour again.
I highly recommend the Dday beaches tour with Paul. Paul was very knowledgeable about WWII history and his great storytelling really added to our appreciation and understanding of what happened at the various sites. All the stops were very interesting, and especially loved the Airborne Museum and Pointe du hoc. The van was also very convenient and comfortable.
The tour format and pace was wonderful. Long day, but well worth it. Bryce was an exceptional tour guide. He was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about D Day history. My only suggestion was to offer head phones for the van to help with clarity in the back seats.

My partner and I were visiting from the Netherlands as part of the group, and Paul took the time to share all about our country's history during the war.
