The park is fantastic and reveals a rich biodiversity. It is definitely a place to visit. However, you should know that you have to drive a solid 4 hours each way (8 hours minimum of driving) from Nairobi. Hotel pickup is not guaranteed, and I was only notified very late the day before that I had to take a taxi to reach a meeting point (same for other clients). Our guide was not really one in the sense that no information was provided during the safari about the wildlife and ecosystems, and there was very little interaction with the clients. The option to be guided in French is offered in the booking, which I had selected and even double-checked the day before. This is completely false; there is no service offered in French (important if you do not speak English). All the clients I was with felt strong concerns about the dangerous driving on the road, to the point where a request was addressed to our driver-guide during the return trip. Finally, you must also plan for fees of a little over 100 USD for park entry in addition to everything else, lunch, etc.

We would give our guide, Peter, a 10 star rating if possible. He was so informative, had a great eye for wildlife and gave us a fantastic safari experience in Amboseli. It is, a very very long day but we arrived back to our hotel, exhausted but exhilarated by all the elephants and wildlife that we saw.

Alex was our guide for a safari in Amboseli National Park, and he was great! He kept checking for information about where we might see lions or cheetahs, and we were lucky enough to find a cheetah. It even sat in front of our car and posed for us! It was such a fun adventure, and I also felt safe with Alex guiding us. Five stars!
