Denna Dark Philly Adult Night Tour är inte din typiska Liberty Bell-tur, men den går ändå genom våra grundares väg och fungerar även som en historisk och sightseeingtur som inkluderar moget innehåll och spökhistorier. High marks for the guide, locations and information. But, contrary to many of the reviews here, we didn't feel it was worth the money. Now we did take the tour on a holiday weekend, so that likely inflated the price (almost $60 per person!!). But really...$60 per person? For a 2-hour walking tour around public places? Even $38 seems high. Should definitely include more value for the money, or lower the price.
A fun-filled two hours of walking learning bits about Philadelphia's lurid history. A couple of mentions of ghosts, but not a ghost tour, and that was fine. Adult themes. Not suitable for youngsters or the easily offended. The guides were amusing and knowledgeable. Mine was named Christa and she comes highly recommended. The meeting point is at the south end of the visitor's center at 6th and Market.
Brother was amazing—high energy and very informative. We had our High School Sophomore and College Junior with us, and Britnee double checked that we knew adult, historical discussions involving things like prostitution were on the agenda—we knew in advance from the overview and our kids were good. The topics were fast moving, with appropriate context and very informative. I would not suggest this for middle school and below, but for mature high schoolers and above, the subject matter brought an interesting new perspective on an important time in US history. It was a great tour, and my older kids liked it even more than the more traditional tour we did the next day. If you have time and want to hear about a different side of 17/1800s Philly, I highly recommend this tour!
Definitely enjoyed the tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and funny. However... we paid nearly $60 per person for a 2-hour walking tour to public places. And while the information was interesting and entertaining, it just felt like there should be...more? That, or this tour should be about half the price we paid. Understandable, we went on a holiday weekend, but still -- not cool to charge that much for a walking tour!
Andrea was great - she was enthusiastic and knowledgeable with a persona geared towards the ghostly and gruesome. While this isn't the kind of tour where you'll be frightened - there is no one waiting in the bushes to jump out at you halfway into the tour - the macabre stories may just spark your interest enough to investigate Philly's dark underbelly further.
“Dark Philly ADULT Tour” describes this amazing experience perfectly. Definitely not for children, or adults who are uncomfortable with frank discussions about sex, vampires, infidelity , grave-robbing and the darker side of our founding fathers not taught in history classes. I’ve taken this tour about six times, and each guide was excellent. Our most recent guide was Christa, who is a moonlighting professional educator. Her students are fortunate to have Christa, as her method of communication is very professional and effective. During the tour, you will visit several famous sites and learn about it’s dark history. As when we informed in one park. we were standing over thousands of buried bodies, and ghosts have frequently been seen. If you take the tour and visit the tomb of the unknown soldier, guess what movie it was shown in. These were two of the most interesting hours we spent in Philly, and will definitely do it again. Because the tours are so popular , they book early, so plan accordingly. Just leave the kids, and sophomoric husbands or boyfriends home. Have fun and pleasant nightmares!
A great way to see the town at night. Fun and educational. Highly recommend if you are into the dark underbelly of society.
Had a great tour with Ted! Lots of really great information and history, but told with the adult in mind. Definitely not for those with a 'prudish disposition.' But if you enjoy some salty language and stories of the more adult (including some things creepy and eerie, but not scary), then you would enjoy this tour! Some walking but nothing too strenuous (the 'worst' part is a few cobblestone streets to cross), and Ted was very good about keeping the crowd together, keeping a good pace, and making sure everyone was comfortable getting back to the starting place of the tour once it was finished (or not, with some nice bar recs). Highly recommend!

Ted was our tour guide and he was exceptional. It was so much fun and I would love to have another experience like this in the future. We learned so much.
