Dagstur - Tsavo East National Park (Man Eater Lions of Tsavo & Other Big Five)

Beskrivning

Great one day Safari to Tsavo East from Diani, good communication and our guide/driver Kelly was brilliant. He gave us some history about Kenya on the journey and told us lots about the animals in the park. Good experience that I would recommend!
The experience, if going with another guide/car, would be excellent. The driver came an hour and a half late and the car was less than road worthy. The suspension on the car was bad and the inside was rusty with bolts hanging out of the covers.
Hi Sudhir, our sincere apologies for this. Another client identified as you & got picked up in the morning. They had already been on the road for 30 minutes before this was discovered. And it took them another 30 Min to get back. This has never happened and we sincerely apologise for the same. On the vehicle suspension, the parks have unpaved & naturally rough roads, with corrugations. As a result, you may experience some vehicle vibrations and noise during the safari. We sincerely apologise for inconvenience caused in the safari.
I booked the 1 day package and it was amazing. It’s only a 2 hour drive to get to the park from Mombasa. The transport was comfortable and spacious and the guide, Kasimu was very friendly. Inside the park I got to spot 4 out of the big 5 animals, which was great for me. I even witnessed lions hunting zebras and got a lot of photos and videos. The national park itself is very beautiful and scenic. And the guide was explaining quite well and answered all my questions. His English was great and I could understand him perfectly. He also stopped whenever I wanted to take photos. Kasimu also advised on lunch options (not included in the price), which i decided to have outside the park as it was cheaper. It’s good that they give you options and not force you to spend on more expensive restaurants inside the park. I will definitely come back one day to do a longer safari as I left wanting more.
The safari was a great experience. Francis knew a lot about the park. He told us a lot about the animals. We saw a lot of different animals aswell. Elephants, zebra, baboon, hippo, lion and many more! Definitly recommend!
We really enjoyed this day in Tsarvo East. It was our first safari so cannot compare to any other experience. However we had relatively low expectations due to reviews that Tsarvo West was better and that May isn't the best time for a safari. We however had the best day of our holiday. We were picked up at 5am from our accommodation in Malindi by Francis who was a really lovely and knowledgeable guide. He was brilliant at spotting animals and stopping for us to watch and take photos. We saw lots of elephants and zebra. The giraffes were majestic. Other animals included warthogs, monkeys, a few hippo hiding in the water holes, jackals, impala, antelope, ostrich, lizards, birds, snakes and 2 lions hiding from the heat. Plus a line of camels on the way home being driven by Masai shepherds. I appreciate you never know what you're going to see, but we felt like we ticked off at least one of everything we cared about. The vehicle wasn't a trendy 4x4 land cruiser, but was a very comfortable Toyota and despite approx 14 hours on bumpy roads, none of us got car sick or sore necks which is what I was expecting. I have a bad neck and didn't need ibuprofen during which was a good sign of comfort. It had the pop up roof so you can stand up and see the animals well and take great photos. We had a choice of bringing our own lunch or stopping at a lodge which is what we chose. For KES2500 per person there was a nice hot buffet with elephant platform and monkeys roaming. We felt we got good value for money that enabled us to have a safari experience. Thank you for a very memorable and fun day.
Good communication, perfectly on time. Francis is a very experienced safari guide, honest and very friendly. It was a pleasure having him with me and my family. I highly recommend him.
Wonderful experience, we saw elephants, giraffes, zebras and even the lion up close, next to the lioness.!!! The landscape is spectacular very wild the very knowledgeable Shakur guide, explained a lot about the local fauna I absolutely recommend this safari.
This company should be renamed as 'Expedition Happy Hour because the other 17 hrs will be Hell' ! Our safari day was a real mix of extremes. Severe flooding meant a much longer, 5-hour journey to the park on dangerous roads, with concerning driving (no seatbelts, constant overtaking, and driver distraction). Once inside, the safari itself was absolutely incredible—seeing animals in their natural habitat, including a pride of lions, was unforgettable. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by major logistical and safety issues. One of the vehicles broke down multiple times, leading to long delays, towing attempts over very rough terrain, and overcrowding (12 people in a 9-seater). We were even briefly stranded in lion territory and later had to abandon the vehicle altogether. The return journey was the most terrifying of all our lives a 5-hour drive in darkness on unlit roads with heavy lorry traffic, near misses ( we were overtaking a lorry when a huge container lorry came upon us and missed us only because we served in and caused the lorry we were overtaking to swerve and stop), and no functioning taillights on our vehicle. While the wildlife experience was truly special, the organisation, vehicle safety, and overall risk made this an experience we wouldn’t repeat. I contacted Simon ( the main company contact) and other than a couple of Chat GPT responses has ignored my request for recompense.
Tsavio East is the biggest Safari park in Kenya so don’t go there expecting to see everything. Food is not included in this deal but there are two options you can either pay 2,500 shillings to eat at a buffet or pay 1,500 shillings to eat outside of the park. The entry fee is half price for African Citizens and it is mandatory to bring your passport.
fun exciting day trip, lots of animals spotted although you also have to have a glimmer of luck. The driver and the guide always knew where to drive. Safari tour is part of a holiday in Kenya
