Ett varierat utbud känner väl till Kartli-regionen av kulturella platser, inklusive flera historiska, kulturella och landskap. Sedan första hälften av III årtusendet f.Kr., är området från klassiskt till medeltida, inklusive och förändrat flera gånger. Regionen var hem för gudar och deras jordiska förkroppsligande – präster, hövdingar och kungar. Varje lager av marken har ett minne av epoker. Regionen stod över kulturernas vägskäl. Betydelsen av denna artärväg var att förbinda öst och väst. Den steniga vägen bevarar fortfarande ett tydligt spår av hjultransporter som rör sig här under århundraden. Regionen styrdes från tid till annan av Mithraism eller Zoroastrianism. Suveräna präster utförde hedniska ritualer här. På detta altare frambar de offer, förhärligade kvinnlig gudom, tände järnekeld. 11:00 Ankomst till Uplistsikhe. Uplistsikhe är en antik stenhuggen stad i östra Georgia. Det byggdes på en vänstra strand av floden Mtkvari, innehåller flera strukturer från tidig järnålder till sen medeltid, och är anmärkningsvärt för den unika blandningen av olika stenhuggna kulturer från Anatolien och Iran samexistens av hednisk och kristen arkitektur .
13:00 Ankomst till ett lunchställe. Unik möjlighet att känna sig som infödd. Besök en lokal restaurang och njut av traditionell, utsökt mat.
14:45 Ankomst till Stalinmuseet. Stalinmuseet är ett museum tillägnat Josef Stalins liv, Sovjetunionens ledare, som föddes i Gori. Museet behåller sina sovjetiska särdrag, Stalins ursprungliga hus och Stalins järnvägsvagn. Vid ledig tid i Gori (valfritt) Upptäck staden Gori, befolkad sedan tidig bronsålder. Enligt medeltida georgiska annaler grundade kung David IV Gori. Fästningen Gori (Goris Tsikhe) verkar ha varit i bruk redan på 700-talet, och arkeologiska bevis tyder på ett urbant samhälle i den klassiska antiken. Under det rysk-georgiska kriget 2008 blev staden utsatt för luftangrepp av det ryska flygvapnet från början av konflikten.
16:35 Ankomst till Jvari-klostret. Namnet på detta kloster översätts som "Korsets kloster". Jvari-klostret är det georgiska-ortodoxa klostret från 600-talet nära Mtskheta. Tillsammans med andra historiska strukturer i Mtskheta är det listat som ett världsarv av UNESCO. Jvari-klostret står på den klippiga bergstoppen vid sammanflödet av floderna Mtkvari och Aragvi, med utsikt över staden Mtskheta, som tidigare var huvudstad i kungariket Iberia.
17:25 Ankomst till Svetitskhoveli i Mtskheta. Mtskheta, en av de äldsta städerna i Georgien, grundades av de gamla meschiska stammarna på 500-talet. UNESCO erkänner det som ett världsarv på grund av dess historiska betydelse och flera kulturella monument. Det var huvudstad i det tidiga georgiska kungariket Iberia från 300-talet f.Kr. till 500-talet e.Kr. Men Mtskheta förblev att tjäna som kröning och begravningsplats för de flesta kungar av Georgien fram till 1800-talet. Svetitskhoveli-katedralen (bokstavligen den levande pelarens katedral) är för närvarande den näst största kyrkan i Georgien (efter den heliga treenighetskatedralen). Svetitskhoveli, känd som begravningsplatsen för Kristi mantel, har varit en av de främsta georgiska ortodoxa kyrkorna och är bland de mest vördade platserna för tillbedjan i regionen. 19:00-19:30 Traveler's Meeting Point (50 meter från Avlabari tunnelbanestation)

I really enjoy this trip. Salome is clearly a history buff; I learnt a lot from her. A patriotic Sakartvelorian 😉, her talks were both informative and interesting. I particularly enjoyed the cave city, Uplistsikhe, and Svetitskhoveli cathedral. When I needed a break, we were given free time. I tried pomegranate ice cream and the local wine. I was worried that the day would be too long, but we finished slightly earlier, and we still had ample time to explore. Our driver Gochi was a perfect gentleman. The driving in Georgia is pretty wild, but he navigates the roads like a pro.

We had an amazing time during this tour, specifically because the tour incorporated so many different aspects of Georgian history/culture, we really got a wide insight into this amazing country. From the ancient culture at Uplistsikhe, to the Stalin museum and finally the two absolutely gorgeous monasteries at Mtskheta, we were able to absorb so much. Our guide, Nika, had incredible English and was extremely knowledgeable about every subject he was taking to us about, so his presence really enriched our experience. We can't wait to continue exploring Georgia!
We had an amazing time on the trip to Uplistsikhe, Gori and Mtskheta with our guide Nika! We had just enough time to explore the places by ourselves after Nika's thoughtful explanation. Each place felt unique and our day was filled with history and culture background of Georgia. We appreciated that Nika was our guide in the Stalin Museum as well, so it didnt't feel rushed going through the periods of his life - from birth to death. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in these places!
It was very successful, the guide explained extensively in place, wherever we visited he first explained, then also gave us free time, I felt really good, the guy had answers to everything, and said it was politically sensitive not going into it (as happened to me on other trips)
