Bara en kort bilresa från hjärtat av Nairobi, ger Kiambethu Farm på Limuru en lugn inblick i livet på en bosättare gård. Kiambethu köpte och uppfödades av AB McDonell 1910. Han var den första personen som växte, tillverkar och säljer te kommersiellt i Kenya - nu en av Kenias största export. Fem generationer har bott på gården och drivs för närvarande av sitt barnbarn Fiona Vernon. Gården ligger i vackra trädgårdar omgivna av tunnland te och inhemsk skog - hem till Colobus apa och massor av andra vilda djur.

Pickup på ditt hotell eller bostad i Nairobi CBD klockan 9.45 och starta körningen till Limuru anländer klockan 11 och över en kopp te eller kaffe går historien om gården och processen med att göra te informellt, följt av en möjlighet att se te i fältet. Ta en promenad i den inhemska skogen med vår bosatta kenyanska guide som kommer att identifiera växterna och förklara hur de används traditionellt. Se upp för Colobus aporna nära och vandra i trädgårdarna som är hemma för ett brett utbud av fåglar och blommor. Gå tillbaka till huset för att njuta av en drink före middagen på verandan med svepande utsikt över tefälten till Ngong Hills. Njut av din tre-rätters lunchbuffé från vår menyberedd med grönsaker från trädgården och desserter fylls med grädde från vår flod Kanalö kor. Senare avgår till ditt hotell eller bostad inom Nairobi CBD.

This tour was so beautiful and serene! My driver, Isaac was wonderful as well, he transported me safely to the tea farm, and on the way back to my hotel, was even kind even to stop at the road side markets at my request, so that I can make some purchases from the locals. I would highly recommend this excursion when in Nairobi, you won’t be disappointed!

The trip was perfect. We had a great driver with local knowledge. Once at the plantation, we could not stop the smiles. We experience the garden in full bloom, pleasantly cool weather, and greeting monkeys. The owners and staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and the food plentiful and savory. Best for adults and older children.

Such a fabulous day out, great to see a different side to Kenya so close to Nairobi. Fiona, Sarah and their team were so engaging and the tea tour was great and food and gardens amazing, you won’t be disappointed. Look out for the gorgeous monkeys and abundance of birdlife. Also highly recommend my driver Jane from Perfect Safaris. So informative on the drive there and back and varied the route so I got to see Nairobi. Her driving skills are pretty impressive too!

Had a great time at the tea farm. The owner gave some history about the farm, how to harvest it, and different types of tea. The estate is beautiful. The food was great. Stephen was my driver for today and he did great. He was very nice. If you are looking for a laid back day, I highly recommend this.

Such an interesting day - learning about tea production, exploring the beautiful garden and having a short guided walk through native forest. The visit ended with a splendid home cooked lunch, with many foods grown in the garden and water on the lawn. As I arrived early, my driver Stephen even took me for some extra visits on the way. Many thanks to out hosts at the tea farm and the guides and driver.

This day trip was excellent. We were met at our hotel on time and the drive out to the Tea Farm was very educational. The Tea Farm property was simply awesome and so beautiful. Fiona (the Owner) and her team welcomed us and made our visit very special. We learned so much about the property history and how tea is grown and processed. The lunch was excellent and I would highly recommend this day trip.
