The Story Bridge är en kulturarvslistad fribärande bro som sträcker sig över Brisbane floden som transporterar fordons-, cykel- och gångtrafik mellan de norra och södra förorterna till Brisbane, Queensland, Australien. Det är den längsta cantilever bron i Australien. Vägen över bron heter Bradfield Highway.

South Bank Parklands, som etablerades på den tidigare platsen för World Expo 88, är en av Brisbanes mest populära turistattraktioner. Parkerna är hem för många restauranger och kaféer samt landmärken som Queensland Conservatorium, Wheel of Brisbane, den nepalesiska fredspagoden, Streets Beach (ett gratis konstgjord badområde) och Grand Arbour. Cirka 11 000 000 människor besöker South Bank Parklands varje år.[1]
Vi kommer att resa längs brisbanefloden och se många saker längs vägen, från historiska byggnader och broar till vår underbara stadskatt som kryssar längs denna fantastiska långa flod som sträcker sig från havets mynning hela vägen till toowong.
Kolla in den fantastiska utsikten över staden och Brisbane River! Kangaroo Point Cliffs skapades av fångar som bryta vulkanisk sten eller ignimbrit eller svetsad tuff som bildar klipporna.[2] Dessa lavor och pyroklastiska stenar avsattes under triasperioden för cirka 230 miljoner år sedan och fyllde en gammal floddal. Dessa stenar var kända som porfyr och blev senare kända som den geologiska enheten som kallas Brisbane tuff.[3] Uppgifter tyder på att det var kapten Patrick Logan, befälhavare för Moreton Bay-bosättningen, som först öppnade ett stenbrott för att leverera sten till hans byggnadsverk så tidigt som 1826. Sten från stenbrottet användes för att fodra delar av Brisbanefloden med murar, för Manly Boat Harbour och vid den nya hamnen i Brisbane. Stenbrottet stängdes slutligen 1976.[3]
Se Brisbane uppifrån med nästan 360 graders utsikt över staden! Innan Moreton Bay straffuppgörelse var Mount Coot-tha hem för Yugara aboriginerna. Aboriginerna kom till området för att samla ku-ta, Yugarabul-ordet för honung som producerades av det infödda stinglösa biet. År 1839 rensade lantmätaren James Warner och hans team toppen av berget från alla träd utom ett stort eukalyptträd. Eftersom detta enstaka träd kunde ses från många andra platser, användes det som en trigonometrisk station för att göra mätningar. Detta ledde till att berget kallades One Tree Hill. År 1873 reserverades skogarna på berget som en timmerreserv för att leverera virke till Queenslands växande järnvägsnät. Namnet Coot-tha ersatte namnet One Tree Hill när området förklarades som park i augusti 1883. Namnet föreslogs av Henry Wyatt Radford, kontorist i Queensland Legislative Council.
Vi kommer att äta lunch här och tid att vandra i trädgårdarna. Brisbane Botanic Gardens har en rad attraktioner med växter från olika landskap, inklusive ett tropiskt växthus, en japansk trädgård, en torr zon (växter från Centralamerika och Afrika) och en Stillahavsö-zon. Den stora utställningen är den 27 hektar stora visningen av inhemska australiensiska växter (med tonvikt på Queensland-växter), med en konstgjord lagun.
Besök den längst varande koala-reservatet i Australien! En fantastisk liten djurpark! Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary öppnades 1927 av Queenslander, Claude Reid. Vi öppnade till en början med bara två koalor, Jack och Jill, vid en tidpunkt då vilda koalor plockades ut för pälshandeln. Det insåg snabbt av Claude att något måste göras för att skydda en av Australiens mest ikoniska arter. Helgedomen är uppkallad efter den enorma bågfuran som än idag står vid vår biljettentré. Det sägs att den enda tallen brukade vara en platsmarkering för gäster som besökte helgedomen via Brisbanefloden och förtöjde sina båtar vid den "ensamma tallen". Trädet planterades av Daniel Clarkson 1867, när fastigheten var en bomullsgård.

What a wonderful day! Mark took us straight to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary before all the big tour buses arrived. We spent over two hours there and got to feed the kangaroos and touch the koala. It was getting very busy when we left. Lunch out was delicious and the views of Brisbane were spectacular. Thank you!

It was a difficult weather day, not the tour company’s fault obviously. Generally they did a good job improvising and making the best of it; however having better process over checking people in, who had bought lunch, who was not riding back, and the communication of where/when to meet could have been better. We would definitely do again, and felt it was still good value, despite Mother Nature raining on our parade!

Tania provided an excellent tour of Brisbane, including Mt. Coot-tha, the river area and bridge, and the botanical gardens where we had a good lunch. We ended the tour at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where we fed the kangaroos and met an adorable koala. I highly recommend this tour for anyone traveling to Brisbane.

Had a wonderful time on this tour. While we left late due to one couple arriving well after the clearly stated time, Mark (our guide) did a great job rearranging our itinerary, so we were able to see everything we wanted to see. Loved the small van vs. the BIG bus you end up on when you book through the cruise line. We were able to hop off quickly at all the stops, spend an appropriate amount of time, and jump right back on. We could have spent less time at the Koala Sanctuary as most of the group were done under 2 hours (we were allotted 2.5 hours) so suggestion for future would be somehow predetermine how long the stay should be.

Great customer service from booking to return to the cruise terminal. Tanya is a great guide and driver, if you overlooked her dad jokes! 🤣 Lunch was very nice and tasty after our highlights tour and set us up nicely for the lone pine tree visit. Bottle of water provided which was very welcome on a hot day. The packet of crisps were the dogs B as it's been 6+ weeks since I last had a packet. To get a real personal service, do book this one.
