Very poor experience.
It was a total waste of money. The audio did NOT work for either of us as it kept skipping back to start and would cut off. It had nothing to do with bad internet connection or our phones. Both were working fine. Your audio was the problem. This being a "self guided tour" we did on our own but without the program we paid for. Horrible, and I wish to have a total refund - knowing full well that will never happen. This is my 2nd, and last, time I have tried TripAdvisor. It's total sham.

Convenience Digital Audio guided Colosseum tour.
Picking up the tickets at the location was smooth. We liked the audioguide that let us go at our own pace.

HORRIBLE!! Dont go with them!!!
This was a SCAM. We couldn’t even get in to see the colloseum because how horrible their service is. They con you into getting to the square ‘’meeting place’ with no information AT ALL. No company name no correct direction. Our ‘voucher’ said 4pm, we were there before 4pm lost in the square with NO idea who to look for where to go, we waited and waited and waited asking people but noone knew. Finally 10-12 mins into it a lady says call the #. I call them and the guy says you should have been there earlier. Excuse me we WERE there, just didnt know who to meet as we had NO INFO. He says he will text me the tickets. He does EXCEPT THE VOUCHER SAID 4pm but the tickets he sent me said 3:45 pm. The entry people said they can not let us in because the time on the ticket. how can the ticket be earlier than the meeting time. And that too when we were there but no proper communication or details from their end. They didnt even help us fix it or do anything. Worst company worst service!!’ Do NOT go through them.

Colosseum with audio guide
When we met our ticket issuer he was very knowledgeable and gave us all the details we needed and more!
You do however need phone data/wi-fi for the audio guide.

Horrible
Got to the location could not get assistance on where to meet tried calling you guys more try a once no answer. The tickets wouldn’t download never download to my phone.

Disappointing COLISEUM Tour
I am contacting Viator, we purchased the Skip the Line, Self guided audio tour which was very expensive($172) and disappointing. We didn't know where to go and where "skip the line" was suppose to meet. a The audio did not work for one of my friends either.
For the tour we purchased and received, I should have bought #3 tickets for $72.

First of all, we're very sorry for your bad experience, you should have read the meeting point information, which is clearly indicated on the voucher you received when booking. Our staff is present throughout the day to provide tickets and all information to customers who arrive, including how to use the audio guide.
Secondly, you should have read the email we sent you the day before with the valid tickets for entry, which allowed you to enter the Colosseum directly, without going to the meeting point.
The line you should skip is obviously the one to buy the ticket at the ticket office, having already paid for it and received it by email, and having the support of the staff at the meeting point.
The most important thing next time is not to pay attention to the higher price, but to the information you need to read.

Don’t buy your tickets on Tripadvisor
We will never buy tickets through Tripadvisor again.
We purchased tickets advertised as including an audio guide and “skip-the-line” entrance to the Colosseum. Unfortunately, this was completely misleading.
When we arrived, there was a very long line at the entrance. When I asked the staff about the “skip-the-line” access included with our tickets, they told us that this type of entrance does not exist at the Colosseum. We had no choice but to wait in the same line as everyone else.
To make matters worse, the price we paid through Tripadvisor was approximately three times higher than the price of purchasing tickets directly at the Colosseum.
I feel that the description of what was included in the ticket was misleading. If there is no actual skip-the-line entrance, it should not be advertised as such. We paid significantly more money expecting a service that was not provided.
My advice: be very careful when purchasing tickets through Tripadvisor and always compare with the official ticket options before buying.

We're also sorry you didn't notice the long line to buy tickets at the box office. It usually takes two hours to get a ticket without being able to choose your entry time.
The line you're complaining about is the line at the entrance gates, due to ticket checks. Tickets must match your name, and these checks take a while for the Colosseum staff. There are also security checks.
Everyone has to go through these checks!
There's no way to avoid them, and that's right. Only the King of England didn't have to go through them during his recent visit to the Colosseum.
I hope you enjoy your travels and don't think badly of those who work hard every day to make tourists' trips more enjoyable.

Colosseum visit 2026
The visit to the Colosseum went very well; our resource person was waiting for us at the meeting point as planned, and he gave us good advice for visiting the site and on a few other points of interest.
