Cobá Ruins Tour (privat, halvdag)

We had such a great tour with Rodrigo! He was knowledgeable and cheerful and enthusiastic about Mayan culture. He made everything easy—organizing everything, picking us up in the morning, driving us to Coba, taking us around the ruins on bikes. It was so much better than trying to do it alone. Highly recommend!

We loved this tour. The Coba Ruins were epic and Rodrigo was a super nice and knowledgeable guide. He picked us up and dropped us off at our condo at the north end of Half Moon Bay in Akumal. He drove us out to the ruins through a couple of mayan villages where we stopped for drinks and gifts. He gave us a great tour of Coba - we rode bikes through the shady jungle and learned so much about mayan culture, history, language, archaeostronomy, and the forest ecosystem. Before we headed home we all had cochinita pibil at a mayan place nearby and it was so good. All-in-all a great day.

Our guide, Eli, is very knowledgeable about the Mayan history and Coba. He has a good sense of humor, too. The bicycle taxis were fun. We enjoyed the tour very much.

Eli was beyond fantastic. Very friendly and energetic and more importantly for this tour he is incredibly knowledgeable about Maya history and culture. My daughter and I visited the Coba Ruins with Eli, and it was an unforgettable experience. We were staying in the south part of Tulum. Eli picked us up at the hotel and we drove for about 45 m to our destination. I understood the importance of Coba only during this visit: this is the only Mayan city that was completely preserved after Mayas left it. The city remained untouched by other pupulations, it preserved it's original late classic Mayan features. The city is located in the middle of the jungle, it is mindblowing to imagine 40,000 people living there. We feel lucky to have Eli as our guide: is an exceptional guide as well as a lovely person. He has a vast knowledge and an infectious passion for his culture. You will feel like those few hours are not enough, you will want to hear more and more. This tour truly felt like having a friend picking you up to show you around the places he loves, and that is priceless. Eli was punctual, erudite and fun, sensitive to our needs, drove us very safely and even took us (per our request) to look for a small gift for a friend, and waited while we purchased some last minutes souvenirs in Tulum. I used to be a tour guide in a different country, I know that this is a difficult job: you have to combine impeccable preparation, enact your best social skills, be patient, empathic, indefatigable. Eli was all of this and much more, a miraculous human being. I know that we will contact him again on our next Mexico trip. He ignited a new curiosity for the Maya culture, we are starting our homework with Popol Vuh, as Eli recommended. And we will return. Thank you, Eli! So, yes. Go visit Coba, you cannot miss it. And do it with Eli.

Rodrigo was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, easy to do this trip. Was on my bucket list to see ruins and Coba is must see from my perspective. Pictures don't really do the setting justice!

Rodrigo was the absolute best! He was kind, caring and knowledgeable! We are a bit mobility challenged and Rodrigo was more than patient and helping. I strongly recommend him!
